Nikon Inc. Corporate Profile

Nikon Inc. is the U.S.-based subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, headquartered in Melville, New York.

Nikon Inc. develops, markets and distributes Nikon products in the U.S., including Z series mirrorless cameras, Z CINEMA products, DSLRs, NIKKOR lenses, COOLPIX compact cameras, software and related imaging solutions. Nikon Inc. also markets a full lineup of quality sports and recreational optics and is a leading developer of precision technologies for industrial and scientific use. For more than 100 years, and across multiple industries, Nikon has consistently advanced the state of the art for the benefit of our customers.

As one of the few makers of optical glass in the world, Nikon has the advantage of being able to specify and select the exact type of glass, lens geometry and advanced coatings needed to optimize the performance of any given optic. The result is what we call our “Optics First Design Principle,” and it applies to every optical product that bears the Nikon brand.

As we continue our mission to discover and develop even more advanced technologies, we also reaffirm our commitment to delivering the highest quality products and support.

Nikon Z System Imaging Products

After more than a century of innovation, Nikon continues to set industry standards for imaging performance and design. Nikon’s imaging business and our commitment to providing professional photographers and filmmakers with world-class products remains central to the company’s efforts. The Nikon Z mirrorless system of cameras and lenses is built around the Z mount—a revolutionary full-frame mirrorless lens mount designed for a new generation of imaging. The Z mount is the widest and shallowest full-frame mount in the world, enabling unique new lens designs and unparalleled image quality in all lighting conditions.

In addition to a full selection of high-performance FX (full-frame) and DX (APS-C size) hybrid cameras, the lineup also includes a range of Z CINEMA products, developed in partnership with leading digital cinema company RED Digital Cinema—a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nikon Corporation.

Sport and Recreational Optics

Nikon’s lineup of premium sports and recreational optical products includes a large catalog of high-performance binoculars and fieldscopes, as well as compact laser rangefinders for golfing and industrial use.

Nikon Instruments and Industrial Applications

Beyond photography and sports optics, Nikon Inc. is a leading innovator in precision optical lenses and imaging devices. These include industrial inspection and measuring systems, as well as microscopes and imaging systems for bioscience research and clinical applications. Nikon is also a leading developer of new technologies including immersion lithography in IC scanners and liquid crystal display (LCD) scanners, as well as emerging fields such as photomask substrates for LCDs.
