How to Use the Product Review Mode in the Z50II Mirrorless Camera

A growing number of influencers and vloggers are filling their social channels with product review videos. These are videos in which the influencer talks about a new product in a review format, and they may also demonstrate how it's used.

There is a feature in the Nikon Z50II mirrorless camera that can help you make your own product review videos easily. The product review mode sets the camera for this type of movie recording scenario with a couple of options you can choose from, making it super easy and worry-free to create video clips where you’re reviewing product on camera.

Many folks contemplating purchases these days will pore over product reviews and product review videos on the sites they do their shopping as well as other websites, looking for the best deals, along with the pros and cons of that particular product. Product review videos help these consumers make up their minds about what they’re going to purchase.

For those who might be new to creating product review videos, quality above all in the video and audio aspects of your review are very important. Especially so if you want to be taken seriously, be seen as knowledgeable about the products and be seen as a vlogger who knows how to create quality content that looks and sounds good too.

What does the Product review mode in the Z50II do?

The Product review mode tells the camera that it needs to focus on one area of the scene and will then be changing focus to another area—such as your hand while you’re holding up the product in question—and then returning to focusing on the wider shot of you again, once you pull your hand holding the item back to you.

How to turn on the Product review mode in the Z50II?

Go to the video recording menu

Set

Set Product review mode to ON or ON (customize focus area).

[selecting ON will set the focus on the subject across the entire shooting display]

[selecting ON customize focus area allows you to choose the dimensions (measured in focus points) of the focus areas used for the selected AF-area. To choose the AF-area size, highlight the ON customize focus area and press the multi-selector wheel’s arrows to choose the height and width.

Just remember that while you’re using the product review mode, the camera controls the focus and AF-area modes, those setting won’t be further changeable by you.
