On October 10, 2005, Nikon released COOLPIX5700, COOLPIX SQ and COOLPIX3100 Service Advisory and another on January 30, 2007, Notice of additional affected products for users of the COOLPIX5400, COOLPIX5000, COOLPIX4500 and COOLPIX3500 Nikon digital cameras. These Service Advisories alerted owners of these cameras that Nikon would service cameras affected by the failure of an electronic component free of charge, regardless of the status of the product warranty. Some models have been serviced to resolve this issue at no cost to the user, even after the repair parts stock period. However, please be aware that the term of this offer of free service to address this issue is limited for the products listed below. Service to address this issue requested after the offer of free service expires will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.

If you would like to have any of the following products inspected for this issue free of charge, please request the service from a Nikon service center as soon as possible.

Please be aware that repair parts for some older models may no longer be available, making repairs other than the free service discussed here impossible.
