Unique and compelling storytelling images are the goal of Deborah Sandidge's travel photography, which means that the location is just the start, the raw material to which she adds imagination and creative techniques. "Everyone sees the same subjects," she says. "I'm trying to see them a little bit differently."

She is an experienced online photography teacher, a workshop leader, seminar instructor and long-time contributor to the Learn & Explore section of the Nikon USA website.

As well as exploring new techniques with her own visual narratives, she loves sharing creative ideas and new technology as a mentor.

In addition to her work on a wide range of technical, creative and advertising projects, she wrote the travel photography column, On the Road, for Shutterbug.com. Her book, Digital Infrared Photography, deals with the techniques and creative possibilities of infrared imaging.

Through her photography, workshops and seminars, Deb encourages others to connect with the fascinating people, beautiful places and diverse subjects that surround us all.

Everyone sees the same subjects. I'm trying to see them a little bit differently.

I waited for the moment until the sun peeked across the silhouetted horizon, filling the sky with rich colors of gold and pink. The layers of color, and pattern, and stillness of the water is what drew me to this shot of Lake Bled, in northwestern Slovenia.
