Using Shadows for Dimension in Photographs

A tip from Nikon Ambassador Joe McNally

Glossary
Photography Tip – Nikon Ambassador Joe McNally shares a tip for photographing subjects with dimensionality.

If you want something to look interesting, don’t light all of it. Shadows give your images dimension and mystery. Just light pieces of a scene instead of flatly lighting the entire scene to give an image dimension.
