DK-19 Rubber Eyecup 5 5 3 3
Very useful item It prevents extraneous light coming into the viewfinder from the rear, altering exposure. It provides an additional point of contact for steadier shooting when hand-holding and even when from a tripod. It allows you to concentrate on your composition. Just make sure you use the metallic ring to instal it to prevent it from falling off. Follow the instructions included. November 12, 2013
Very useful Yes, this works with my D700. It's indispensable. It shield your eye from stray light from becoming a distraction. And lets you focus on photography. The down side is that the viewfinder glass is more prone to fogging up. November 20, 2010
It is compatible with a D700 too It doesn't say it here but this eyepiece does work on a D700. I wrote Nikon's tech support about it and they said they would post the information, they never did. It's easy to install and I have had no problems with it. If you have a D700 and were wondering if this will work on it, it does, buy it. October 12, 2010

Answer:
First remove the existing rubber eyecup from the Df by grasping it lightly between your thumb and finger and rotating it counter-clockwise. Then follow the instructions shown on the following page: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an... .

Please disregard the parts of these instructions that refer to an eyepiece shutter/lock since the Df does not have these features.

I am buying the Nikon D800 and thinking of mounting the DK-17m 1.2x magnifying eyepiece on it. I would like to use this on top of that.

Answer:
I don't have direct experience with this item, but I have changed out the DK-17 on my D700, and it simply screws in and out of the camera. If you replace it with a magnifier, the only difference will be in the glass, and the overall design is identical. This eyecup is just a piece of rubber that stretches to fit around the eyepiece. It fits all of the FX cameras with round viewfinders.
