Meet the instructors

The Portrait Lighting Workshop is taught by four of Nikon's own Professional Markets Technical Reps: (top row l. to r.) Joseph "JC" Carey, Andy Dunaway and (bottom row l. to r.) Brien Aho and Chad McNeeley. “JC” loves to shoot long exposures, sports, and concerts but it’s his love of light and lighting that fuels his passion for photography. Andy served in the Air Force for 22 years as a combat photographer. His dedication to the craft of photography is proven by the countless awards and accolades he’s received over the years. Brien is also a multi-award winning retired navy photojournalist, and a graduate of the Military Photojournalism program at Syracuse University. Chad served in the Navy as a photojournalist for 20 years. He’s been published in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME and Newsweek magazines.

Nikon School Tip: Posing

Don’t force your subject into a pose they are uncomfortable with. It’s often easier if you demonstrate first. So show your subject how to sit, stand or hold their hands in a simple but pleasing way.
