Great product The primary use is for an F100. It works very well and is actually quite sensitive so be careful while depressing that shutter release button. The only gripe, like some others have mentioned, is the length of the cord... another foot or two would be nice. May 12, 2011
A must have if your into HDR When you need your camera to stay completely still & you have to get 7 bracket images quickly, This is the ideal remote. With the lock feature in hand, all you gotta do is pull the trigger & BAM! it will complete all bracket shots at one time. Again, a Must have if you own a tripod & are into HDR photos. March 7, 2011
an adequate remote, but short This remote does what one expects, but only if you are close to the camera. I use it for tripod work. It connects to the D700 well, but the cable is short! For the cost, it is not as impressive as other Nikon products. April 15, 2011
No other choices The release works very well but! It's difficult to screw into the camera and after a while the insulation tore at the camera end exposing the wires. Other people have also had this problem. It's poorly designed but there are no other choices. August 11, 2011
Poor design I use this cable release with my D3 and am continually frustrated with the tiny ring to screw it into the camera. My fingers may be larger than most, but this issue would be easily solved with a ring at least twice the current diameter. The cord needs to be securely attached to ensure a connection and also to avoid continually falling out. The designers need to use the equipment themselves to avoid getting tripped up with these simple design flaws. March 23, 2011

I bought a used D70 and the seller included an MC-30 in the package but I can't figure out where it would connect or if I need an adapter of some kind or if it isn't compatible at all. Let me know if I should just sell it and buy something else. Thanks

Answer:
Yes, in custom settings g4 (assign shutter button) you can control whether the shutter-release button can be used to start movie live view or to start and end movie recording.
