Smart charger No one ever thinks about the charger, but apparently Nikon did when they made this model. It has a similar look to its predecessor, the MH-18a, but with a few more features and faster charging. The battery slides in through an open port and locks into place as opposed to getting put into a rail slot. Also, the charger comes with a wall adaptor and uses a lock to allow the charger plug to either lay flat or be used vertically. The charge time is also faster, about 1 hour for a fully discharged battery. Good job Nikon! November 7, 2010
No Problems so far I have used this battery with the Nikon 1 V1 camera since July, 2012 and it has worked just fine. October 9, 2013
It was great while it worked Got this charger with my D600. It worked for exactly 1 year and 1 week. I still have chargers from all of my previous Nikons and Canons and all of them still work, even after being in Africa, rain forests, etc... Very disappointing, if you are not absolutely set on OEM, look elsewhere. January 18, 2014
MH25 Charger Failed after charging two batteries once..... No choice except after market equipment... December 29, 2012

Answer:
are you sure you aren't thinking about the charger for a different camera? this one, as shown in the accompanying photo, plugs into the wall via an adapter cable -- not flip-out prongs, like the charger for en-el14 batteries that comes with the D3100.

Hi,
I have an MH-25 charger and the charging light does not come on at all when I insert a battery into the charger. I have verified that the power outlet is good and that the cord connections are good. Should the light come on? It seems that it should either blink or be on solid.

The unit is about 3-4 month old and I have charged the battery a few times.

I require an auto switching charger as I travel overseas often. I had a Nikon charger before that was only rated for 120V, which was not useful for me. And I am not buying the answer that ALL Nikon chargers are auto switching (as in a previous answer); they are not. Since this appears to be the only charger available for the EN-EL15 battery, I would hope that someone there would have exercised some common sense and made the charger multi-voltage and auto switching.

Answer:
Yes, all Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.
Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.
