Great product!
I purchased this charger for my Nikon cool pix s4000 because I lost my original charger. This charger works great. The blinking lights tell you the level of power the battery has as its charging and the charger is really convenient!

The charger requires an additional cord instead having the capability of plugging directly into the outlet. Means there is just an additional piece to get lost. Don't think there are any other options, as the charger is specific to the battery and they use so many different batteries...

I have been using this charger successfully on 110V US power. Can I use it directly with 220v or 240V power in China?
If not, is it ok to use a transformer to step the voltage down to 110V?

Answer:
All Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.
I think the blinking rate of the red indicator led is normally about 1 Hz. However sometimes it starts blinking very rapidly. I discovered that, after I set the battery for charging and if it blinks rapidly, it blinks at the the normal rate after I remove and replace the battery after few minutes of initial charging. When I first realized fast blinking I hadn't done anything and it kept blinking rapidly for hours...
Can you give an explanation or recommendation.

If the charger is flickering its mean battery error. If ambient temperature is not 41 to 95 °F, wait until temperature is in this range before charging. Otherwise unplug charger and remove battery immediately and take both devices to retailer or Nikon-authorized service representative.Has staff answer

Is the charger still working properly if the red-orange light doesn't blink or turn green? It just stays a solid.
I'm noticing that the battery dies very quickly. Whenever I try charging it, the light doesn't blink or turn green. I'm not sure if I should get a new rechargable battery or if the charger is no longer working. I do notice that the battery fits loosely, but that's how it's always been when we got the camera/charger together.
