reliable
This is a simple product that works great. I've tried 3rd party ttl cables in the past and had confusing results, sometimes they misfired, sometimes they fired but at 1/1 power not ttl exposure.
This cable is well made, transfers TTL information flawlessly. It works great all the time.

Did not hold up as well as I thought it would
I have used the cord about 4 years, not very heavy use, just on week-ends. It did everything it was supposed to do, but I was surprised when I noticed the outside rubber insulation coming off both ends of the cord where it enters the hot shoe connector and the flash shoe connector. Thought the cord would hold up better than that.

Answer:
The only difference between the two cords is the SC-29 has the focus assist light build into the end that connects to the camera hot shoe.Answer:
Yes, you can use the SB-700 on the D90. The main difference between the SC-29 is that has a AF-Assist Illuminator and the SC-28 is an extension of the hot shoe with connectors for the SC-27, SC-19 and 3 pins connectors cables.Has staff answer

What is the function of the other 3-pin connectors from both sides of SC-28.
I have tried to connect another camera (SB800) with SC-27 cable and was hoping for two flashes working in TTL mode, but it does not work in TTL, just in FULL flash power. Any advice?
