I love it! This is a great product. It helps me with my objective of manual focus. It's worth every penny invested. February 25, 2011
Perfect for Manual Focus I love this device on my D800. On my old D200 I used a focusing screen but I don't need one with the D800 because of the larger viewfinder. However, my eyesight is a bit blurred and I often use manual focus lenses & wide aperatures so I bought the eyepiece magnifier to help out. It magnifies the viewfinder by 20%, making it even easier to check focus visually. It does eliminate some of the outer black edges from the viewfinder but nothing is cropped from the image itself. I can still see the green focusing aid dot and the other viewfinder information just fine. The top image corners are a bit vignetted and the very tip is cut off, but it is very minor and but nothing that bothers me. Before, I was using the 2nd last click on the camera's diopter adjustment. Now I can dial it back 2 clicks so I have more room if my vision degrades further. I also tried it wearing glasses, which I don't usually do. The frame edges are clipped a bit wearing glasses, so you may not like it if you must wear glasses using the camera. For installation, the old eypiece screws out on its threads and you replace it with this one. It takes far less than a minute and is very easy for anyone to do. November 7, 2012
Great but last one week Great quality, but even though I've heard that it does not has a good fit to the camera I have bought it. Excellent, but after two weeks in the field it has dropped and is lost somewhere in my birding forest. Maybe for a study user It will last. Just rub it in your clothes and it will detach and fall from your camera :-( February 22, 2014

Will the DK-17M Magnifying Eyepiece fit a D-700. The D-700 brochure indicates that it will, but the Nikon website doesn't list the D-700 as being a compatible camera.

I need a larger magnification than the DK-21M, and also, the DK-21M doesn't work well while using glasses, which I always need to wear. Also. would I still be able to put a -3.0 diopter adjustment accessory with this? Thanks!

Answer:
hi
the eyepiece should screw into the same place your original rubber eyepiece is, unscrew it and screw new one in its place...
not sure about the "diopter adj. accs", you will still be able to make diopter adjustments...

What I want to know is when this magnifying eyepiece is added and you achieve the 1.2x magnification, do you still retain 100% viewfinder coverage or does it somehow crop the edges to be less than 100%? What I want to ensure is that I still see what I'm going to get, but have a large viewfinder image for ease of manual focus. Thanks

Answer:
The only round rubber eyecup for the D7000 is the DG-2 eyepiece magnifier which must be used with the DK-22 adapter. There are no other similar eyecups.

I try to rotate the DK-17M and it moves a little bit but it stops abruptly and I can not remove it. I need to uninstall the DK-17M to use a DG-2.
Is there any screw or some thing that stops the DK-17M to go out?

I'm a photographer with advanced diabetic retinopathy, as a result of which, I've had extensive laser surgery to the back of my eyes. The effect of this is that I have great difficulty in seeing small objects. I'm wondering has anyone tried this Nikon eyepiece and can it assist in magnifying the viewing screen to the extent a photographer with bad eyesight may be able to functionally operate a digital SLR.
Many thanks for any help with this.

I have looked high, and low for a very long time for a +0.5 diopter for my Nikon F3HP. There's everything but the +0.5. The +0.5 is perfect for my Nikon FM3a. The +1.0 for the F3 is too much.
