It never let me down but it is dying We travelled a lot together during the last four years. I took some great shots with it even if I am just an average user that uses automatic settings most of the time. Now the internal clock doesn't work well, the plastic door that holds the batteries broke, sometimes the lens refuse to open when pressing the on/off button... I looked around for a worthy replacement (another compact camera, not reflex or mirrorless) but I can't find something convincing. GPS would be nice but the lack of the viewfinder is a big deterrent for me. I don't understand people, they prefer a single bigger display that will be unreadable under strong light instead of a viewfinder and a smaller display. I'm so sad. September 22, 2013
Wish they would have never stopped making it My beloved Nikon Coolpix P60 died last year with a scratch on the lens. I ordered a Powershot SX230 as it was in the line of consumer Reports top cameras and was the one that had built-in landscape assist mode. However, I was not happy with the Powershot, primarily due to the lack of a view finder, but also due to the hard-to-use interface. I was spoiled by the digital view finder on the P60, and the easy access to functions like a time-delay photo. I would love to buy a new P60, but cannot. I did purchase a used one, which I hope will serve me another five years, and I'm presently taking apart my 'deceased' P60 in hopes of ordering parts to repair it. March 28, 2013
To heck and back I was given this camera during training for an upcoming deployment to Iraq. I had it in my cargo pocket during my 10 month deployment and used it frequently. It survived a lot of abuse and came home with me where it has served as our family camera. Recently it has had some minor issues but I still highly recommend this camera. March 26, 2012
Excellent Value This camera has all the features the average user would ever need. Easy to operate, batteries available anywhere. December 26, 2010
Disappointed When I first purchased this product I believe it to be a quality item. I did not use it a lot over the 2 years I owned the camera and I kept it in the car most of the time. I have always owned Nikon cameras because I thought they were the best. About 6 months ago I started getting a lens error message when I tried to zoom. It still works off and on but I will probably purchase a different brand when I decide to replace it. I did not purchase the extended service plan for replacement if something goes wrong because it was a Nikon. August 22, 2011

why does my camera display the message "out of memory" even when I have a new sim card installed?

I can't figure out any reason but, recently, my nikon p60 refused to take photos and displayed the message "out of memory". I had a sim card in there that had been working for several months. Notwithstanding that, I replaced the batteries and the sim card with a brand new sim card but the camera still displayed the message out of memory. There were photos on the camera itself, which I copied to my computer. I then reformatted the camera to remove those photos. Then, I could take 7 more pictures but after that number I had to take the photos off the camera and reformat the camera again.
So, it appears my camera will only take pix on the camera and once I have taken 7 photos I have to remove them to take more photos. This occurs even though I have a sim card in the camera with plenty of space to take photos.

Thanks, Keith, for your answer. I didn't format the new card - will try that. But the old card I had already been formatted and the camera had taken pix to it so I don't understand why it stopped working - any thoughts?
