Just purchased the above item for use on the D-80. Out of the packaging, would not function at all even tho camera "ON" & battery full. Have never used a remote release previously; have never even opened the cover protecting the port until now. Anyone experience any such problems with this remote release???

I'd like to be able to take pictures of weapons being fired, and a remote release that will allow multiple exposures to be taken would be fantastic for such a shoot.

When the shutter release is plugged in, it locks the back screen including the ability to review images. I am using the shutter release in a water housing and I was wondering if when plugged in should the screen lock?
