Answer:

It's for 55-200mm Nikon lens with 52mm opening, although it should fit other Nikon lenses with 52mm thread, i.e. 18-5mm (however, the shape of the petal is design specific for that lens). All Nikon hoods have a dot with L shape and a dot with line to the left on the right side. Align the the dot with L shape on the lens hood to the dot on the top of the lens located right behind the lens filter thread and turn left a quarter turn until the dot on the lens and the dot on the hood aligns with a click. If it doesn't work, then you got a wrong hood or lens or else ...
