A reason to buy original Nikon accessories I'm bothering to write a review on a lowly lens cap because I got burned by not purchasing a genuine Nikon lens accessory. I lost the original lens cap when it fell from my shirt pocket during a shooting trip. When I went to replace it, I couldn't find anything but a generic cap that had a tether that would loop around the lens or attach to the body. I found a generic one with a tether and it was way cheaper than a real Nikon cap so I bought it instead. Big mistake. The tether worked great but the lens cap kept falling off at the slightest provocation. I finally solved the problem by removing the tether from the generic cap and sticking it onto a newly purchased Nikon cap. There's no substitute for quality. Hopefully Nikon will read this and include tethers with their fine lens caps. April 14, 2011

Look on ebay, you can pick lens caps up for next to nothing.
