The Great American Photography Workshops were established to give serious photographers the opportunity to work with and learn from some of America’s best nature photographers.

For over 15 years, the GAPW has been among the most respected workshops in the country.

At GAPW, three methods are used to help students develop their craft. The first is the in-the-field experience with great photographer/teachers. The GAPW has taken great care to hire the finest photographers, those who can not only make great images but who can convey their knowledge to others. Second, these photographer/teachers guide students to an understanding of the key principles and fundamentals of nature photography. And third, all the student have the opportunity to have their work reviewed and critiqued by GAPW's instructors. These critique sessions are vital, as they indicate areas of the students' work that need special attention.

The GAPW is not, however, just an intense learning experience. It's also fun. Most students comment on how hard they laughed and how much they enjoyed the learning process. We believe that the more relaxed a student is, the more he will absorb and retain. Many of our students become life-long friends; many return to visit and make new friends.

For those who want to take their photography to the next level and have a great time doing it, the GAPW is more than a workshop, it’s an incredibly rewarding experience.
