There are three VR modes selectable according to shooting situations. VR NIKKOR lenses are divided into three groups — with Normal mode only, with Normal and Active modes, and with Normal and Tripod (tripod vibration reduction) modes.
Active mode effectively compensates image blur caused not only by camera shake but also when shooting from a moving vehicle, or some other unstable position, providing stable viewfinder images as well as blur-corrected resulting images.
