Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 187 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great beginner lense I developed an interest in photography and received this camera and both lenses for my 15th birthday. It has fulfilled all of my expectations and does everything I need it to do. I mostly take outdoor shots -- flowers, trees, landscapes, etc. -- a lot of magnification, which it does wonders with. Images are sharp and clean and the color and background blur are phenomenal. It's easy to focus and achieve desired results. July 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Camera for a Novice Like Me! I purchased this camera to step my game up. I own a Coolpix and like it but wanted more natural looking pictures. I must admit it is little more work but it pays off in the long run. The pics come out great and are more detailed. Makes for better prints. I am by no means a professional but this camera helps me along the way. June 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Buy a kit and enjoy the best for a great price. Excellent value. I've owned this camera for a week and it's incredible. Having been a professional commercial photographer for 25 years I naturally owned Nikon so I was drawn to this when I saw the deals that are available, The kit came with the 18 to 55 zoom and the 55 o 200 zoom. Both lenses perform amazingly. They focus quickly and the exposures have been dead on. It's been awhile since I've had anything but a Nikon Coolpics, which takes nice snaps but having the extra power and versatlity is a great feeling. I've already taken some really nice photos. Look for the deals and kits and go with it if you want a really great camera. Enjoy. May 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by versatile Beautiful camera! kit lens doesn't do the sensor justice, upgrade on the glass and you'll see beautiful pictures you won't regret. overall great quality pictures! February 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by PERFECT CAMERA FOR THE RIGHT PRICE I bought the Nikon d3200 18-55mm and 55-200mm bundle and wow am I impressed. The price was practically a steal. There are no doubts that this camera meets a beginners expectations. I brought my d3200 on a trip and got breath taking photos with the supplied lenses in the bundle. Overall this camera has exceeded my expectations with both photo and video quality and to add that its lighter than other DSLR cameras I have used. Perfect camera for the price if I do say so myself. Answer:
Nikon offers two types of autofocus digital camera bodies: those with a built-in focus drive motor and those which require a lens to have a motor. Cameras such as the D3200 do not have a focus motor in it so they require the lens to have the focusing motor – an “AF-S” lens. While these bodies can use a lens with no focus motor (an “AF” lens) you would have to manually turn the focus ring to bring the subject in to sharp focus.

Answer:
You can use the cards you have if they are class 6 or higher (reccomended) , you will see a 4 or 6 or 10 with a C around the number. I would suggest a tleast a 8gb class 10. Here is a link, scroll to the bottom and you will see a list of approved memory cards.

I plan on using the HD video capabilities on this camera, but I'm having a really difficult time searching through many websites looking for "just the right memory card"...

"The following SD memory cards have been tested and approved for use in the
D3200. Cards with class 6 or faster write speeds are recommended for movie
recording. Recording may end unexpectedly when cards with slower write
speeds are used."

Sandisk, Lexar, Panasonic and Toshiba cards have been tested with the camera, but I'd like to think that Sandisk would be the best choice here, but I would like to hear from the experienced photographers out there. What has worked for you? and what is the difference between SDXC and SDHC? Is one better than the other? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Answer:
If you are going to shoot alot of video get the San Disk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS1, (make sure you buy a compatible card reader). Video eats up space on the memory cards so get the biggest you can afford.

Answer:
Hi, first of all the D3000 is an outdated model. The decision between a J1 is simple, if you eventually want to use third party lenses or at least some of the better Nikon ones without buying a ridiculous expensive converter you should consider the D3200. The J1 is smaller than the d3200 so if you want a cam that you can easily carry around and of you travel a lot that might be better for you, however in terms of image quality the d3200 really is the only choice. and if you are really interested in Photography a DSLR is the only choice and you wont care for those extra 500 gram to carry.
I personally own the d3100 and a D3S and i am very happy.

Hope i Helped

PS: English is not my native language so forgive me if i made a few mistakes.

Answer:
Yes. According to Nikon's literature: Whether taking stills or recording movies, there are four
convenient AF- area modes to choose from: face-priority AF, widearea AF, normal-area AF and subjecttracking AF. The combination of subject-tracking AF and full-timeservo AF (AF-F) maintains the focus point as the action progresses.

I've been waiting for this camera to come out and wanted the red one. Seems like no one, even this site, has a way to purchase it. Is it delayed?

Answer:
What you are referring to is called "bokeh", too long of an explanation to answer properly, The D3200 will produce bokeh with the right settings and lens, For a begginer I would suggest a AF-S 50mm 1.8 and then do a computer search for 'bokeh' to understand
what you are doing.

Answer:
Some dealers put kits together with different lenses, sometimes one or two. You will need to verify with your local dealers to see what they have available. Our suggested retail price for the D3200 is $699.95 with a AF-S Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm.

I don't want the 18-55 kit lens.
Can I buy the camera without the kit lens? What would be the price? Can I buy directly from Nikon?
Thanks

Answer:
Depth of field is a function of the lens, the d3200 does not have depth of field prevue. It does have a guide mode that softens the background. I think this is what you are referring to, it gives the backroung a blurred effect (known as bokeh)
