Problem with iPad/iPhone Disconnects fixed? Like others I have experienced disconnects with IOS devices. If you are having this issue try putting the IOS device into "airplane mode" and enable wi-fi only. This both speeds the downloads up and makes the transfer much more reliable. January 16, 2014
Super Slick WiFi Adapter I just bought the WU-1a wireless mobile adapter for my D7100. Easy to set-up and it worked the first time. I have used this WiFi adapter to move pictures to my cell phone with no issues; JPEG, Large Normal, files - so they are big files. Also switched to camera control mode using my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx cell. Again no issues in operating the camera and transfer of files. Love the fact that after you take a picture it automatically downloads to my cell. This is so slick being able to use my cell to see the image and to trip the shutter. Really great and fun and I have not downloaded the online instructions. I love this unit and don't have any concerns in recommending this accessory. One comment on price, at $55 it's a lot of money. It only cost me $3.12 after my gift card. Highly recommended. November 5, 2013
Remove old photos, Move app to sim. At first I had issues with the product until I truly understood the issue. This product attaches to a very high end camera. The said camera D7100 takes huge, nice, brilliant pics. The application will not open if it can not find enough disk space to view the camera's contents, which are also stored on the phone. I did the following. 1. Moved Photos to my IMAC. 2. Deleted the photos from my phone. 3. Moved the app to the SIM. I am running the APP on a BLU (Galaxy knockoff). If it works on this phone it will work on anything. Good Luck. Silk April 23, 2013
This changes everything! Pictures used to stay stuck in my camera until I could download them into my laptop. Now, within seconds, they are transmitted effortlessly into my iphone 5. Thanks so much for a great feature. February 19, 2013

I watched a YouTube video that shows three items in live view at different focal distances. When they touched each item on the screen, the camera would refocus on that item. I can't get mine to focus at all using the touch screen. It only focuses once I touch it to take a photo. I'm thinking maybe my camera settings may need to be different? I have tried on my Tab2 and GalaxyS4

Also, the screen I get on my Tab3 and GalaxyS4, look nothing like all the images I see online. Why is mine different? I'm using a D3200

The ability to move the focus point by tapping the device screen varies depending on the camera that you are using. This feature is not available with the D3200. When using the D3200 the camera will focus on the subject in the focus area selected with the camera

i love the idea of sharing (almost) instantly and will be purchasing this item soon. But, i was wondering, if i program the settings on my camera before hand, can i use this for long exposure shots? I've wanted to try taking pictures of the night sky and firework "season" is right around the corner. Even with my tripod, i still get blur from using my finger to press the shutter release. Before i go out and buy a second item, i just wanted to know if i need it, or if this adapter will be able to do the same job.

I have a relatively new Nikon D7000. It would be nice if this accessory could be used on my camera. Is there a possibility there could be a software or firmware to allow the use of the WU-1a on my cameral body? Most hardware/software providers plan to update their products. It sure would make me feel better about all the money I have spent on Nikon equipment, dating back to the 1960's to feel that Nikon really wants to take care of their loyal customers!

Answer:
With the WU-1a, the images that you take can be transferred wirelessly with any iOS/Android smart device. After the images are taken with the camera, the images can be transferred wirelessly. In the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility Application that is needed for wireless transfer, there is an option to take the images with the camera by using the smart device and the images that you take with the camera will instantly download onto the smart device.

I just received the Wireless Adapter WU-1a.

My understanding of the wireless feature is that I could continue to use the camera and the picture would automatically transfer to my IPAD to get a better view /save the picture.

I tried using today and to my surprise the camera DOES NOT work while the adapter is plugged in...... My camera Display shuts off.........

Why does this happen with my Coolpix P520? I want to be able to take a picture and transfer it.......

Answer:
Make sure when connecting the WU-1a to the COOLPIX P520, the camera has a full battery and there is an approved memory card. Connect the WU-1a and the iPad by going to the wireless settings. Once the network of the WU-1a is selected make sure the Wireless Mobile Utility app is downloaded onto the device.

I am using a Nikon DF, connected to an iPhone 5s. The connection is made and I can see the photos on the camera, but when I try to download photos to the iPhone, the connection is always lost. I have tried changing the App settings to lower resolution photos (VGA), and nothing changes. I am also using a Class 10 memory card so I don't think the issue is there.

I bought the D3200 and wu-1a adapter for my girlfriend this Christmas. I was on the phone with customer service for 1.5 hours trying to get the adapter to work and couldn't. I tried it on my Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3 and also tried it on my girlfriend's iphone 5C running the latest iOS 7. Neither phone would connect to the adapter. I even updated the cameras firmware to latest version. Nothing seems to work. Need help, or I am going to have to return the adapter. Has anyone had the same problem recently?

Answer:
In order to use the WU-1a adapter with the D7100, you’ll need to download the free “Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility” app. For folks using Android-powered devices, download the app from the Google Play service and install it on your Android™-powered smart device (phone [2.3 or later] or tablet [3.x or later])**. For folks using an iPhone® or iPad®: iOS version 6.0, download the app from the iTunes Online Store®. Once the app is installed, make sure there is a memory card and full battery in the camera. Please make sure that you are following the step in the article below: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

Hi,
I bought the WU1a at the beginning of the year and now I want to be able to take pictures of star trails, so I need to put the camera into bulb mode. When I connect the app with the camera and go to "take photos" it says that the camera is configured to bulb photography, shooting is not available. If bulb mode is not available with this device, PLEASE FIX IT, as this is the whole resin why I bought it.
Thanks,
Kevin

Answer:
Bulb mode is not available when shooting with the WU-1a and the WMU app. Depending on the camera, please see if your camera is compatible with a remote. The ML-L3 remote control is capable of shooting in bulb mode.

I'm using a D3200 with the Iphone app. I know that I can't change any settings i choose once I'm using the "take photos" part of the app, but even when I change my shutter speed and f-stop on manual mode before I got to "take photos" the settings I choose are reverted.
Is there anything I can do to make sure the settings I choose in manual shooting mode on my camera are kept while I use the app?

Answer:
A camera connected to the WU-1a/WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter can only be used with a compatible iPhone®, iPad®, and/or iPod touch® or smart devices running on the Android™ operating system. The Wireless Mobile Utility application must be installed on the device before it can be used with a camera connected to the WU-1a/WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter. Setting up the Wi-Fi connection, requires a fully charged battery and supported SD card for the camera. Please make sure that the Wireless Mobile Utility Application is also compatible with the iOS/Andorid version that is being used on the smart device. Send to smart device option available?

Using the built in WiFI on the D5300 you can speed-up the process of transferring images from the camera by pre-marking them for transfer - either by using the 'Send to smart device' menu option or by pressing 'Info' when you're reviewing an individual image. If you've done this, then hitting the 'View photos' option in the app will give you the option of transferring all the pre-selected images.

Is this option available using the WU-1a on the D5200? If not when will it be made available?
