I have a Nikon D-7000. I would like to know whether it is possible to make a copy of my old slides and negatives by using the ES-1 Slide adapter with the AF-S DX micro Nikkor 85mm lens. I suppose that I should employ any kind of extension tube to do it. In the case to do it, what class and length of extension tube should I employ?.
Thank you so much

Answer:
The ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter is meant for use with certain Nikkor Micro lenses. While its possible that it may fit on other lenses or gear with 52mm threads, Nikon cannot offer support or advice regarding the use of Nikon products with third party products.

Answer:
No, the lens that comes with the D3200 kit is the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm lens which is not compatible with the ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter. The ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter is meant for use with micro lenses like the AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D.

Answer:
A 20mm long tube with 52mm threads at both ends(which goes between front of lens and the ES-1 adapter) is what you will need so that you image is not cropped.

I have a D 300S, 60mm micro nikor, ES- 1, and BR 5 adapter. I purchased a BR-11 and BR-12 ring and can almost get an image. Nikon service rep stated either would work. I have read reviews on Amazon indicating good results with a D 300. Does anyone have a suggestion on extension ring size?

With the DX crop, would I be able to focus close enough without the extension tube to focus on the slide. I don't want to lose the edges of my slides. By definition, us old timers had to crop the shot in the viewfinder, with a zoom or with our feet, moving closer. I can't afford to crop them tighter.
