WR-R10/WR-T10/WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter Set
Easy to use, does what it says it does.
I got my WR-x10 kit along with my brand new D800E about 2 weeks ago but hadn't had time to try it out.
My old faithful ML-L3 doesn't work with the D800E but the x10 has several advantages over it: I don't have to stay "in sight" of the infrared, the x10 controls more than one camera and is flexible enough to control each group through a different channel. Also, for the D800E, it mimics the Fn button which was very helpful.
The manual explains in very simple terms how to use the kit but it took me a while to figure out where to connect the WR-A10; I also found it cumbersome to have to screw it into the right place in the camera. A top notch camera like the D800/D800E should have a direct connection.
Anyway, once I figured this out, the x10 set was very easy to pair and its operation does exactly what the manual says it does.
My final opinion: too expensive to be so basic. But it's small, light and works fine so for field trips it's OK. Better than the ML-L3 that caught me standing in the pictures of some landscape shots...
