Will this MB-D11 work if the only battery is inside camera body and not in this grip or do I need to buy extra battery or do I have to put the camera battery in this grip to work?

My MB-D11 works either my ONLY ONE EN-EL15 is in the body or in the MB-D11. I wonder if this issue was always in the forum. Id tested it. First, I pull-out the in-battery and use it on the grip. All function works! The D7000 controls itself and MB-D11. Same when I put back the battery inside the body of my D7000 without battery in the grip it all works too!

Answer:

Mine does not power on if the only battery is in the body. You need a battery in the grip, with or without a battery in the body.

The purpose of using the battery pack is to provide your camera with extra power camera with two EN-EL15 batteries or 6 AA batteries and is equipped with a shutter release button and command dials for vertical shooting.

Yes it will. My MB-D11 works with only one battery in the camera on my D300s. I don't see why it wouldn't work with yours. I would recommend getting the extra battery though. It helps A LOT!

Answer:

Yes. A "AA" adapter is included. You can select the type of "AA" battery in the camera's menu system. "Alkaline", "Ni-MH", or "Lithium".

The MB-D11 comes with 2 battery trays. 1 for the EN-EL15 that comes with the camera and another tray that uses 6 AA batteries, Alkaline, Ni-MH or lithiums.

Answer:

No it wont attach as is for the D7000. There is no offical grip available for this body, but there are a few third party versions around if you have the need for a grip.

Sorry but it's not and MB-D10 will increase FPS when you use high-power batteries. (EN-EL4 or 8 AA)
