Battery charger for rechargeable EN-EL 12 Lithium Ion (Li-ion) battery.
MH-65 Battery Charger 1.1 5 9 9
What are Nikon thinking? I too have recently bought the Nikon Coolpix 310 even though the in-camera charging option supplied with the box is ridiculously impractical. However, my rationale was that I could buy the external MH-65 charger, which I erroneously believed would function similar to many other camera chargers, i.e. plug directly into the wall. What was Nikon thinking? Any advantage of spending a lot of money on a small advanced camera is completely nullified by having to buy a charger and separate cord package that required an extra suitcase when traveling. I exaggerate of course, but the size and weight of the thing is ludicrous. I am taking the camera back and sticking with the much superior Canon S series camera (and charger!) that I have used previously. May 15, 2012
Surprise burmese python size cord! Not pictured, there is a tremendous cord the size of a full grown python that you get to stuff in all your TINY CASES FOR YOUR LIGHT TRAVEL. Who needs convenience?? That's for the weak. No, you get to carry extra stuff around. Packing light is just dumb. Then I did see the one with the USB port that attaches in the wall and charges the battery in the camera. Great for when you want to charge your extra battery and still go take pictures... Oh wait.... No it's not. I love the camera, wondering why people who make waterproof cameras, can't make a more convenient travel friendly wall charger that charges the battery outside the camera? I must be expecting way too much. February 22, 2012
Too heavy and bulky. Charger and a ridiculous cord. I may return this camera just because of the charger. I came from a Panasonic lumix. The charger has the plug built into it. No cord. Just what I dont want when packing light is Nikon's setup. Not shown in pics. February 15, 2012
Why two chargers? Combine them. Nikon provides two different battery chargers for the S8200, which are opposite in almost every respect. The EH-69P, which comes with the camera, charges the battery inside the camera using the USB cable. It plugs directly into the AC outlet, which means no separate power cord to pack around and/or lose. The MH-65, has a cradle to charge the battery outside the camera, but it has a separate power cord (does not plug directly into the AC outlet). I suppose Nikon is trying to satisfy different needs, but why can’t they combine these into one universal adapter? Here are the specs, more or less in order of importance. 1. Charge a battery outside the camera, like the MH65. This is critical for those who use multiple batteries. 2. Plugs directly into the outlet, like the EH69P. This eliminates the need for a separate power cord. To make this more usable, have the plug flip out from the edge, instead of the back. 3. Charge the battery inside the camera, like the EH89P. Ideally, it could do both at the same time. This requires a cable, but if it’s the USB cable, it’s not an extra cable. If I don’t need this feature, I can leave that cable home. 4. Has a separate power cable to the AC outlet for cases where there is not enough space to plug the adapter directly into the outlet. If I don’t need this capability, I can leave the power cable home. Oh, and if you use the search box on this site to locate these products, be sure to spell them EXACTLY. The site is not smart enough to find "mh65". You must type "mh-65". January 9, 2012

Is there a manual for this charger? If the yellow light is on, it's charging? If it's off, it fully charged?

How would one know without some docs?

Answer:
mine blinks for awhile then there is no light. what does that mean?
NO documentation with my camera on this charger as it was bought separately. I have 2 batteries and plugging the camera in to charge them is just plain stupid.

The blinking (not flickering) light in the charger means is charging. When is solid light it means that the battery is fully charge. The information is avaliable in the user's manual for your camera.

You did not answer "Ginger"s question. I have the same question -- is there a charger with a flip out connector that plugs directly into a wall socket? I know that you can charge the battery with it in the camera with the supplied connector. That's not what I want. I want a charger for my spare battery that plugs directly into a socket that doesn't have a long cord.

Hi, mademt. to answer your question, no not from Nikon. HOWEVER 3rd party chargers do. I saw one in the store from Energizer that was compatible for the battery pack that plugged directly into the wall. Looked like it would be great for travel.

You still didn't answer the question whether the M65 uses a cord or not. Does the battery fit inside the M-65 then flip out plug directly into the outlet. I noticed the M65 has a USB port. Why is the port necessary if the charger fits directly into the outlet?

Answer:
The M65 Charger itself does NOT have a USB port. their is a port to plug in a power cord. To charge the battery you remove the battery, and put it into the M65 charger. The M65 charger should have a cord that came with it that plugs from your electrical outlet on the wall to the side of the M65 charger. There is no other way to charge your battery. I hope that helps!!

I have misplaced the charger cord for my S8100 camera. I see that the compatible charger, Mh-65, is out of stock and there are no Nikon stores available to me. How can I order one. I have an important event coming up in May and would like to take care of this by then.
Can you assist?

going to ireland in june. bought s8200 to take and am confused about charging battery. read on website that you have to buy cord when i get there that can handle 240v. is this a standard usb cord? also the ac adaptor eh-69p that came with the camera in the u. s., does this fit in the plugs in ireland? i sent the question to nikon and all they sent back was the quote from the website about getting a different cord. i have already read all the information on the website and am still confused. they told me not to use a travel ac adaptor that has the different prongs for different countries. i guess all i want to know is if i buy another cord when i get there, can i use this eh-69p adaptor in the plugs in ireland.

Answer:
All Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.
Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.
Some newer Coolpix have included an AC Adapter, like the EH-68P AC adapter, for plugging directly into a wall outlet without the use of a power cord. As with previous chargers, the correct adapter must be acquired for the country traveled to, and fitted to the Nikon AC adapter to allow proper AC connection to the wall outlet.

Just thought I had "upgraded" from a Canon, but at least it's extra battery charger is compact and plugs directly into the wall. Way too much to carry around for a "compact" camera. Please tell me there will be a battery charger without a cumbersome cord to carry around soon!! I want to love this new camera! Thanks!

I use my AW100 as intended, in the great outdoors. However, Nikon has missed one little detail while designing this camera in their comfy design offices. The great outdoors do not have power outlets! All I have available on my boat is a 12V-DC outlet. Please advice how to charge this otherwise great outdoor camera, in the great outdoors.
