MH-23 Quick Charger 2.1 5 16 16
Charger Lasted for a year and then suddenly wouldn't charge my batter at all. November 14, 2010
It died. Worked fine for 2 years. Then suddenly I'm left with no charger. Won't charge, no lights no nothing. September 20, 2010
Dead charger Charger gave out after four years of use...no abuse, no apparent damage. Battery is still fine. But what other choice do we have? July 10, 2012
same old same same problem as everyone else. Died, Haven't been able to shoot for two months now due to complications with getting a new one. I've bought two chargers already, going today to buy a third. It's not the battery, my friend has the same camera and the original charger and it has charged fine in her's. It's problems like these why Nikon would benefit from a standardized battery/charger design for their SLRs and DSLRs. March 1, 2012
Poor Charger Had it for a year and suddenly died on me...left me with no charger. There's no use for the camera if I have no battery. October 11, 2011
This charger is junk Is there any other charger I can get for the EN-EL9 battery for a Nikon D60? I can't believe that I just bought a new battery just to realize that it's the charger that isn't any good. May 24, 2011
Poor Quality My charger only lasted about a year and I didn't use it very often even. It just stopped working. May 6, 2011
Product stinks This was a good charger for about a year and a half. It just stopped working and now I have no charger and lots of work to to! May 1, 2011
Poor quality; it died. For such a nice camera, they made a substandard charger. It just quit working one day. I had it at most for about 2 years. April 24, 2011
Bad Quality In similar fashion as the other reviews... this charger died within 1 year. Nikon obviously has a problem with the design in this charger. February 27, 2011
I had this charger for exactly one year and it just stopped working one day. Bummer!!! January 29, 2011

LED blinking pattern never stops

I bought a D5100 less then a month ago, with an MH-24 and two batteries. First couple of times I've recharged the batteries, the charger did what its documentation says it would: the orange LED blinks steadily (short blinks) while charging then stays on when the battery is charged. However, just recently I noticed something different happening. It first did it with one battery, then it started doing it with the second battery about a day or two later: the led blinking has a pattern to it: one short blink followed by a long blink, then repeat. It never stops blinking. The batteries are still getting charged and I haven't noticed any diminished capacity or anything else with them. But why is the charger behaving the way it does?

Chris, I never received an answer, either from Nikon or any other member. No one seems to know what's going on or why they it starts behaving that way after a while.

Answer:
It's not flickering, it is a steady blink, however a) it's a pattern of one fast and one slow blink, and b) it never stops blinking, even after it's been sitting there the whole night. The environment is not hot, ambient temperature is hovering around 70-75 degrees F where the charger sits.

When I first started using the charger, I was getting a steady blink, on-off-on-off, consistent. And it would turn solid after the battery is charged. After roughly 3 weeks, it started exhibiting the one fast, one slow blink pattern, and it never turns solid. But the battery is getting charged, I'm not seeing any diminishing performance out of the batteries - neither of them.

I've unplugged the charger several times now - this is a wall plug in charger, not a USB one. And I should also point out, I just realized this was posted in the MH-23 forum, as opposed to the MH-24 which is what I have.

Answer:
If the light is flickering (not blinking slowly) it means that the ambient temperature is not suited to charging or the USB cable or Charging AC Adapter is not properly connected, or there's a problem with the battery. Disconnect the USB cable or unplug the Charging AC Adapter and correctly connect it again.

I have an older battery charger I used with Nikon 4300, the cable from that bundle matches the input hole in the MH-23 (that I got with d5000), can I use that cable (the old one) with the new charger because I'm in Europe, and the cable from my new bundle is US one?

Answer:
Yes, is just an AC cable. The only issue you could had is the difference between EU and US plug but I-m pretty sure you-ll have an adaptor for that.

Regards.

I am going to Europe and will need to charge my cameras batteries. Do I need a converter for European power or will the charger operate off of 220V as well as 110V? Does the MH-23 convert automatically?

Answer:
Yes, it is rated for 220 use and will convert automatically. You just need to purchase a new 220 rated charging cord(it's GA generic cord) They can be purchased at the airport where you land or local electronics retailer in the country you are visiting.

Answer:
You do not need to use a power converter on the MH-23 charger. The MH-23 charger auto switches from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz. However, a power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival. Most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop conmputer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. The power cord included with the MH-23 when purchased in the united stated is rate for 110v only.
