Poor Designed Charger Got camera today, and did'nt like it right from the start. Did'nt even put battery in camera. They sent a charger designed like cell phones chargers. So to charge battery you have to charge while in camera. Dumb, what if I have two batteries and want to use camera while charging another battery. Cant with this charger. To charge battery you must remove plastic cover on camera and plug a wire into it. The charger will never fit into small camera bag either. I wish to get charger like most small camera have, plugs into wall outlet, no wires to charge battery. Battery slides right into charger. This type of charger is small and compact, why have small compact camera, if you must use large, wired to camera to charge. So now you must find somewhere to lay camera while charging, instead on safely placed in camera bag. Now it will probably end up falling on the floor sooner or later. Will return now. If only they made chargers like canon. Maybe canon can make some chargers for Nikon. And I bought during black friday and got on sale, now I have miss a chance to get deal on camera. Thanks some much Nikon. Way to go. November 27, 2012

Answer:
That is the USB cable and that is fine, what Laurence is referring to is the cord from the adapter to the power source.
Make sure it is rated for 240 volts, if not any electronics retailer will have the correct cord. They are generic computer type power cords.

Answer:
The EH-62A AC adapter which is the correct AC adapter for the COOLPIX P100 is able to auto switch from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz. However, it important that you check the Voltage rating on the power cord as it may not be rated for 240V power supply and in that case you will need to purchase a new power cord that is rated for 240V for the EH-62A AC adapter.
Failure to observe this precaution could damage the product or cause overheating or fire.

Hi, I need to charge my s8200 while taking long videos. I don't want to buy something I don't need and notice that the cable for it has a USB end that fits into the little charging cube I use to charge my iphone and other Apple products. Could I just plug the cable that came with my camera into this wall charger and safely power my camera and charge the battery?

THanks,
K.

Answer:
The correct AC adapter for the S8200 is the EH-62F. You can find more info on the EH-62F here: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

The use of Non-Nikon Electronic Accessories could damage your camera and void your warranty.

Answer:
No you cannot do it that way, it is a special adapter that plugs into the battery chamber. It is Nikon EH-62F, it costs around $25.00.

Is this charger useable from 100-240v or just the U.S. 100-120? If it is only up to 120, is there a European version I can get? (I'm seriously considering the Coolpix P500, which comes with this charger, but I travel often to Europe and need a camera with a battery I can charge there too).

Answer:
Yes, all Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.

Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.

Some newer Coolpix have included an AC Adapter, for plugging directly into a wall outlet without the use of a power cord. As with previous chargers, the correct adapter must be acquired for the country traveled to, and fitted to the Nikon AC adapter to allow proper AC connection to the wall outlet.

I've attached the plug adapter to the unit by mistake and I am unable to remove it. In the manual it says that attempting to remove it forcibly could damage the product and I was wondering if there is any way to do it safely.
