My cameras are Coolpix 8800 and 8400 with EN-EL7 batterys. While using the EH 54 ac adapter for long periods can I leave the EN-EL7 battery inside the camera? Will the battery be charged inside the camera?

Answer:

The EH-5a is a power supplier is not a charger. The battery is charged by the MH-56 battery charger.

If you're using the EH-54 AC Adapter you need to remove the EN-EL7 battery first.

In order to charge the battery, you will need the MH-27 battery charger. The EH-54 is an AC Adapter that can be used to power the camera, useful when shooting long sessions.
