I was planning to get this but I hesitated because it did not have image stabilization. Why does this lens not have this smart feature? Can the 10mm still take good pictures without image stabilization?

Answer:
Besides the cost of having VR and trying to fit it in such a small lens there is no real reason to have VR when in such a small body lens combination and if shake is an issuea tripod can always be used.

Answer:
This lens is a CX lens specifically designed for Nikon mirrorless cameras. Similar performance would be obtained on a D3000 with a 28mm lens. The D3000 is a DX format camera and is comptable with DX and FX AF-S style lenses. The D3000 does not have a built in focusing motor so non-AF-S lenses will not autofocus on the D3000.
