Compact, portable, versatile standard zoom lens

A versatile 10-30mm standard zoom lens perfect for family outings, group shots and portraits, this lens brings precision to most lighting scenarios with a f/3.5-5.6 maximum aperture range (picture angle equivalent of a 27-81mm in 35mm format). Vibration Reduction (VR) reduces the chance of blurred photos. Retractable lens barrel mechanism reduces overall size for increased portability.

Versatility with wide angle to portrait

Keep moments in focus

Whether the whole family or just a single person, the 10-30mm is the perfect lens to frame the moment. Versatility and precision are yours when photographing from wide to tight portrait looks. The 1 NIKKOR 10-30mm lens applies three aspherical lens elements to ensure only the highest quality images—even at the widest aperture settings—are obtained. You know most family shots are taken while on the go. Count on Vibration Reduction (VR) to keep your pictures blur-free.

Find the detail using 10-30mm zoom range

Pick your focus point

Frame that wonderful ocean shot or sun setting over the bridge. A superior all-around lens, the 10-30mm commands sharp focus with excellent delivery of details in images taken far away. Versatility is yours as you frame wide camera angles, just the way you like or smoothly zoom out until you find exactly the right balance of details to include in your shot.

Pull it closer

Shoot from afar

Use the full reach of the 10-30mm and bring subjects close. For when you cannot get right up to the action, a 30mm zoom may be just right. Hone in on your subject and hit the shutter. Even at this magnification your photos come out crystal clear and sharp with Vibration Reduction (VR).
Vibration Reduction icon

Vibration Reduction

This innovative VR system minimizes image blur caused by camera shake. It allows handheld shooting at dusk, at night, and even in poorly lit interiors. The lens' VR system also detects automatically when the photographer pans—no special mode is required.
Aspherical lens element icon

Aspherical lens element

Aspherical lenses virtually eliminate the problem of coma and other types of lens aberration—even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting the distortion in wideangle lenses. In addition, use of aspherical lenses contributes to a lighter and smaller lens design.
Nikon Super Integrated Coating icon

Nikon Super Integrated Coating

To enhance the performance of its optical lens elements, Nikon employs an exclusive multilayer lens coating that helps reduce ghost and flare to a negligible level. Nikon Super Integrated Coating achieves a number of objectives, including minimized reflection in the wider wavelength range and superior color balance and reproduction.
Internal Focusing icon

Internal Focusing

Imagine being able to focus a lens without it changing in size. Nikon's IF technology enables just that. All internal optical movement is limited to the interior of the nonextending lens barrel. This allows for a more compact, lightweight construction as well as a closer focusing distance.

Lens errors after 3 weeks of use Overall I like the Nikon 1 J1 system and have captured some great images on tour in Europe. However, after only 3 weeks of use the 10-30mm lens has developed a consistent "lens error" issue when the system is turned on by unlocking the lens, or if the camera is switched on with the lens already extended but with the zoom ring anywhere between 10mm and 14mm. The compact design seems great but it's just not rugged enough, apparently. Be aware that if your lens develops problems you are dead in the water until it gets serviced, as these are only sold with the kit. You can't purchase a separate back-up. I'll be using the larger DSLR for now. September 28, 2012

Answer:
1 Nikkor lenses are not compatible with the D3000. However Nikon does produce two other lenses that would suit your needs. These lenses are the 12-24mm f/4 ED-IF AF-S DX and the 10-24 f/3.5 - 4.5G ED AF-S DX.

Best Wide Angle Lens for Interior Shots

Jan 28, 2013 by

My V1 includes the kit 10 - 30mm F/3/5-5.6 lens. Am seeking a wide angle for interior architecture pics. Is the Nikkor 10mm f/2.8 a wider angle lens? Both list a 35mm equivalent of 27mm.

Or is there another lens I should consider?

Thanks in advance

The zooming out motion differs on these two lenses. Is that normal? I just purchased my two zoom lens Nikon 1 and am surprised by the discontinuous motion of the 1 Nikkor 10-30 lens. In contrast, the 30-110 moves out in a smooth continuous motion. I m not sure if the 10-30 lens is defective or if that is the normal motion of the 10-30 lens.

Please do not be alarmed. The zooming out motion of the 10-30mm and 30-110mm lenses are different and it is normal. There is nothing wrong with that 10-30mm.

Answer:
The lens that you're looking at, the 10mm 1 NIKKOR will not work with the D5100. 1 NIKKOR lenses only work on the Nikon 1 cameras. You need an FX or DX NIKKOR lens.

I got my camera today and I was using it gently but somehow the lens ended up like this, and from the ones I have seen in the store the black part doesn't stick out that much. It's working normally but it looks funny now and it's bothering me. Does anyone know what happened and how to get it to go back in??
