Key Features

Lens Hood (Screw-In) for 200mm f/4.0 D-AF Micro Lens.
Use of specifically engineered Nikon lens hoods is highly recommended.
In less-than-ideal lighting conditions, the performance difference can be substantial.
Optional Screw-in lens hood for select NIKKOR lenses.
By reducing the amount of non-essential light falling onto the front lens element, lenses can better achieve their optimum optical performance, producing more saturated images.

When I am using a circular polarizing filter on the 105mm micro lens, it is too inconvenient to have to reach around the front of the lens and extend a finger into the HB-38 lens hood to manipulate the filter--all the while looking through the viewfinder. The screw-in HN-30 hood would allow me to attach it to the polarizer and then turn the polarizer by grasping the hood. My concern is that the depth of the hood (I can find no information on this) might interfere with the field of view of the lens, resulting in vignetting.

Answer:
It's 62mm in diameter. Thread pitch is most likely .75mm or about 40 tpi. Thread pitch varies based on the diameter. Most common are .50mm, .75mm and 1.00mm for large diameters.
