I'm researching before I purchase the hood. i already have the lens, and I am considering getting the hood for protection mostly.
Thanks.

Answer:
No, there is no vignetting at 18mm when the HB-58 lens hood is used with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens.

This bayonet-type lens hood came with the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens that I purchased less than a year ago. It never would seat properly on the lens. There would be a little snap indicating that it was seated but it fell off many times. All but two of those times I was able to find it. I have replaced it once and will have to replace it a second time as it fell off yesterday when I was traveling and I have no idea where it is. For it to be dislodged so easily suggests that the design is severely flawed. For this reason I do not wish to purchase another HB-58. What other options could you suggest?
