Good So Far Have the software running Win 7/64 on Pavilion dv6-3150 Intel i5. The software is stable and easy to use. I just took a still from an HD Video and placed it in Adobe InDesign, output to Kindle with no problem, 1/25/13. I'll report back from time to time as I do more. January 25, 2013
Super picture viewer Hi Super image viewer and fast program. Very easy to use and the program is integrated with Nikon's Capture NX2 and "My picture town" Really good. sincerely The happy ameteur photographer with his Nikon V1. PNOR October 15, 2012
Great Initial Workflow Program for RAW Files. I find ViewNX 2 a very stable and useful first step program when dealing with a full shoot of RAW files. It lets me view and do basic editing on the entire album, and integrates seamlessly with Photoshop 6 for photos requiring more advanced work. The Album View layout is also very well done. June 24, 2012
Great for previewing and tagging photographs. Great product that has always been in my workflow. The only thing on my wish list is. that it is not so slow and a memory pig. view nx was a lot faster. June 4, 2012
Huge jump from ViewNX Older version seemed a little clunky, and I could never register PS so that I could open directly from program. ViewNX 2 has solved that issue, plus is a lot faster than any MS or Adobe product. Controls are excellent and well-placed, gives complete metadata and graphics info. It's really loaded with all the right stuff for professionals - I can't believe it's free! Thanks, Nikon, for continued great support of your products. December 2, 2011

Answer:
Please check the 'image size' of the NEF file you are trying to edit to make sure that the size reflect the same NEF image size indicated in the camera user manual or when the picture is view on the camera LCD.(see the metadata in view nx 2). If the NEF files were transferred to your computer using a third party software or a version of Nikon software that did not officially supported the camera or prior to updating View NX 2 to version 2.7.4, the NEF image size will be reduce and you will not be able to edit them. You will need to re-upload the photos by clicking on the transfer icon in view NX 2.7.4 (latest version of View NX 2 as of 05/03/13) to lunch Nikon Transfer 2 which you will need to use to transfer the photos.

If the above cannot resolve your issue, please feel free to contact technical support so we can get detail information and better assist you.

I have found that after editing a raw .nef file in CNX2, I can no longer use the convert file feature in VNX2. This seems odd to me that this function is dependent on having an unaltered file. I am wondering if perhaps there is something that I may have set up wrong, or is this just a glitch in the Nikon software. I can still convert files in CNX2, so it isn't a show stopper, but it would be more convenient to be able to convert from either program.

Answer:
You may not be able to fix the image. However, if you still have the picture on the memory card, you can re-upload it to the computer. If the picture was deleted from the card, you may still be able to recover it using a memory card image recovery software. Check with the card manufacturer for the recommended recovery software.

Answer:
Labeling a photo in View NX2 should not impact the function of the arrow keys. However, when ViewNX2 is set to sort thumbnails in descending order by the label then the labeled images will move to the end of the list. Depending on the window layout that you are using, it could seem like the arrows have stopped working because as you arrow forward you will jump to the end of the list. Go to 'View' and 'Sort Thumbnails By' to see if you are sorting by the label. If so, try changing your sort method. If you aren't sorting by the label or if changing the sort method doesn't resolve the issue, please contact Nikon Support for further assistance: http://support.nikonusa.com

Answer:
The default location for pictures transferred using ViewNX 2 is a folder on your computer called "Nikon Transfer 2". The pictures may be in addtional folders in the Nikon Tranfer 2 folder. If you did change the tranfer location of the pictures, you can view the path by opening ViewNX2, click transfer, then click primary destination, and the path to the pictures will be displayed.

On your macbook pro, Open the "Finder" and on the left side of the widow that pops up, you will see: All My files, Air drop, application, Desktop, Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, Etc.
Click "Pictures" then Double click the "Nikon Transfer 2" Folder. You can also search for the "Nikon Tranfer 2" folder.

Assuming you were positing pictures to Craiglist, after you click "Chose Files" from the website, your macbook pro "Finder" will open. Click: Pictures-->Nikon Transfer 2-->Double click the additional folder if there is any, and click on the picture to select it. To select multiple images at once, hold down the command key on your keyboard and click on the pictures.
After you have selected your images, click "Choose" and they should take a few seconds or minutes to upload depending on your internet connection.

I have always been a fan of ViewNX 2, until I recently installed it to a new HP Core I7 Laptop with 8.00 GB Memory and two very large disks. Operating system is Windows 8 64bit, I also transferred the file and folder structure from my previous Mobile Toshiba Laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit,.where ViewNX 2 had been running flawlessly.
ViewNX 2 has also been performing flawlessly on my Windows Vista 64 bit desktop computer.

I have downloaded and installed S-VNX2__-020706WF-EUREN-64BIT_, the most recent update and also have removed the Microsoft NEF codac and replaced ir with the latest Nikon NEF codac I also removed the previously installed version of ViewNX 2 and then ran the Nikon Registry cleaner. The newly installed version works somewhat better, but the following are its most negative aspects:

1. It takes 3-4 minutes for the Transfer utility to recognise my D7000 when I connect it via a USB port.
2. Transfer of picture files proceeds quickly, once D7000 is identified. However, the ViewNX2 Browser etc takes up to 8 mins for any of its application windows to appear. It is running during this waiting time as a pure background task..
3 When starting ViewNX 2 manually, it runs also as a background task (seen in Task Manager) for about 8 mins before any indication of its state appears, neither a message box or the application user interface. When the application window does eventually appear, the thumb nails come up fairly quickly after selecting a folder. However, when trying to zoom in on a a thumbnail, the application becomes unresponsive for an appreciable time, before the zoomed view appears.

Any help would be appreciated as I really treasured the application when running under Windows Vista 32/64.

Thanks, Scraper

Answer:
If you have edited a jpeg then it will create a new folder with the original image in. If it was a NEF then it will write the adjustments in the raw file, you should see a small paint brush next to the image name to show that it has been altered.

Answer:
The AW110 is able to record high speed movies which can be playback in slow motion. View NX 2 is unable to play movies in slow motion. In order to record a high speed movie and play it in slow motion, you will need to select one of the HS movie options in the AW110 movie settings menu.
Refer to page 45 of the reference section of the AW110 manual for more information.

Dear support,
I am having the following problem, when I click the E-Mail button in ViewNX2, it gives me an error saying that not standard email program is installed. I do have however Thudnerbird as my standard programm. If I set Windows Mail as standard, the button works.
My OS is Windows Vista 64 Ultimate. Both Thunderbird and ViewNX2 are up to date. Reinstalling thunderbird did not help.
I looked into the registry, and I noticed that Vista has no thunderbird entry under
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird
(there is only 2 folders, Hotmail and Windows Mail, unlike other versions of windows)
but rather has an entry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\
Could this be the reason behind this problem?
Thank you very much in advance

I had Windows XP on a 13 nyear old HP Pavillion that worked but was slow. I Just bought the D3200 a couple months ago and the new PC a couple weeks ago. They seem incompatible. My Uploads should start as soon as I connect and switch on the camera power. I get an error message that says NX2 has stopped working. I won't be forced to buy a new program for a NEW camera that should work for the same chronologically marketed technology such as a D3200 and a Windows 8 HP Pavillion X64. What is wrong here????

I have bought D3200 on thanksgiving which comes with ViewNX2 image editing software. I have a Windows 8 laptop at home, and this software doesn't seem to be compatible with WIndows 8.
Is there a compatible version available, or some way to make it work?
