ViewNX 2

Great Initial Workflow Program for RAW Files.
I find ViewNX 2 a very stable and useful first step program when dealing with a full shoot of RAW files. It lets me view and do basic editing on the entire album, and integrates seamlessly with Photoshop 6 for photos requiring more advanced work. The Album View layout is also very well done.

Great for previewing and tagging photographs.
Great product that has always been in my workflow.
The only thing on my wish list is.
that it is not so slow and a memory pig. view nx was a lot faster.

Huge jump from ViewNX
Older version seemed a little clunky, and I could never register PS so that I could open directly from program. ViewNX 2 has solved that issue, plus is a lot faster than any MS or Adobe product. Controls are excellent and well-placed, gives complete metadata and graphics info. It's really loaded with all the right stuff for professionals - I can't believe it's free!
Thanks, Nikon, for continued great support of your products.

It is what it is.
A very good program for viewing your Nikon (NEF) images. It's not meant to be Photoshop CS5! For viewing, rating, and minor editing it does a great job. It is a great second step in my work-flow before I proceed to PS RAW and/or CaptureNX for more advanced editing

good product
It is a good product, easy upload from the camera. All my pics are in NEF format and I can read and edit there convert and e-mail or upload. Simple and easy. Also you can open directly the pictures with NX2 for more serious editing work. Basically it is similar interface as Adobe's bridge but can do a little more. Also very useful is all the information that is used. Another similar product is Apple's Photo.

Answer:
In View NX2, the 'Folders' list view will show you everything that is connected to your computer, for example – hard drives, folders, USB devices, mapped or networked drives, removable hard drives, cameras – basically anything that has storage. When you access one of these resources, View NX2 will only show you image and video formats that it is capable of displaying.
These are the following formats View NX2 is capable of displaying:
Supported Formats:
• JPEG-format images (Exif 2.2-2.3 compliant)
• RAW- (NEF, NRW), MPO- (3D) and TIFF- (RGB) format images, movies, sound files, Image Dust Off reference photos and GPS log data recorded with a Nikon digital camera
• RAW- (NEF, NRW), TIFF- (RGB) and JPEG- (RGB) format images, and .MOV-, .AVI, MPEG1 and WMV-format movies saved with a Nikon software application
Now, if you delete any of your images or videos from within View NX2, it will put the deleted file or files in the Recycle Bin or Trash Can.
As far as uninstalling View NX2, it will not remove or delete any of your images or videos that are stored on your machine. You can uninstall View NX2 without any worries about losing any data.
Hope this helps

I am using an outside WAV and AAC editor for adding music to my videos. When using an itunes purchased AAC, no issues are present. When i save to AAC from my editing (three songs into one) the sound does not work. Is there a specific file type (wav or aac) settings such as 192 KBPS that i am missing?

There's no Batch processing in View NX2. However, you can select the pictures (thumbnails) you want and make the adjustment all at the same time.3 months, 2 weeks ago

when you're about to install the software from the CD or download it from our website, it will give you an option to select a different location.
When i try to export a raw as a jpeg or tiff file it very briefly flashes a progress bar and than immediately stops without finishing the process. I double check and the files are not there.
I am selecting files and choosing all the correct options, why is this happening?

Answer:
Click on View - workspace - edit, then in the right hand window click the adjustment arrow to show the adjustments, if you cant see them all click in the dropdown box to show 'all'. Some adjustments will not be useable unless your file are NEF, but most things should be there to enable you to adjust your file.

I have trouble with saving jpeg files in latest ViewNX version 2.3.2. When I edit a jpeg photo (just a slight adjustment, no croping, no multiple saving) and save it with a click on small save button on adjustment panel, saved edited jpeg becomes at least three times smaller than it's original copy was.
Why is that happening in software like that? Everything else works perfect for fast viewing, labeling and fast editing, but at the end, three times smaller and heavily compressed image spoil the fun...
Is there any fix we can expect in a near future, to resolve this issue? ViewNX is really fine to use, but such a small thing is preventing us of using it. There should be a setting in options to define a default compression for saved files, exactly the same as it is when you hit a Convert button. The feature is already implemented in ViewNX, somebody should just make it happen also for Save option.
Thank you for your answer! I hope that you can give me further information about this issue. A quick fix for that would be even better.

You will need to be more specific with your question.
I am moving images from uploaded folders (date shot) to a created folder (slideshow). I am doing this by first opening thumbnail view and then selecting an image (usually the first one). My screen shows a full screen of the selected image and a row of thumbnails along the bottom. At first I had no problems, but now when I try to click-move-drop a selected image to my new slideshow folder, the cursor highlights every image as I try to move the selected image to the folder and nothing is moved. I notice a dotted line around the thumbnail image of the selected image along the bottom line of thumbnails. The only way to accomplish this task now is to highlight, copy, paste, which is more time consuming.
