ViewNX 2 Your Imaging Toolbox

ViewNX2 is the convenient way to manage images, providing functions for storing, browsing, editing and sharing photos as well as movies.
ViewNX 2 2.9 5 43 43
Great Initial Workflow Program for RAW Files. I find ViewNX 2 a very stable and useful first step program when dealing with a full shoot of RAW files. It lets me view and do basic editing on the entire album, and integrates seamlessly with Photoshop 6 for photos requiring more advanced work. The Album View layout is also very well done. June 24, 2012
Great for previewing and tagging photographs. Great product that has always been in my workflow. The only thing on my wish list is. that it is not so slow and a memory pig. view nx was a lot faster. June 4, 2012
Huge jump from ViewNX Older version seemed a little clunky, and I could never register PS so that I could open directly from program. ViewNX 2 has solved that issue, plus is a lot faster than any MS or Adobe product. Controls are excellent and well-placed, gives complete metadata and graphics info. It's really loaded with all the right stuff for professionals - I can't believe it's free! Thanks, Nikon, for continued great support of your products. December 2, 2011
It is what it is. A very good program for viewing your Nikon (NEF) images. It's not meant to be Photoshop CS5! For viewing, rating, and minor editing it does a great job. It is a great second step in my work-flow before I proceed to PS RAW and/or CaptureNX for more advanced editing November 26, 2011
good product It is a good product, easy upload from the camera. All my pics are in NEF format and I can read and edit there convert and e-mail or upload. Simple and easy. Also you can open directly the pictures with NX2 for more serious editing work. Basically it is similar interface as Adobe's bridge but can do a little more. Also very useful is all the information that is used. Another similar product is Apple's Photo. November 10, 2011

Answer:
After you have adjusted your image make you save it, a pop up box will automatically open if you dont click the save button. Once your copy has been saved you can use it as is or convert it, if you convert it save it to a new folder so you can find it easily, you can then upload to fb via this folder.
If you are not saving the file after adjustment then this could be why its converting back to original state when you move it to your desktop.

In previous versions of ViewNX 2 it was possible to set filter to "NEF" format and then if ViewNX 2 was closed after starting it again filter was still what it was before it was closed, i.e. "NEF". In current versions, it doesn't matter what user chose in filter, when ViewNX 2 is started filter shows "All"

Hello,

I appreciate view NX 2 and the way it handles NEF files. However, I find that there are random .NEF's that simply won't export. When I do a big batch of NEFs that I'm trying to convert to TIFF for more processing via photoshop CS5, there are specific files that will cause ViewNX 2 to get an unknown error and stop the conversion process. When I try to convert that .NEF specifically, it's a no go.

I'm shooting with a d7000. I feel like ViewNX 2 is an incredible program for my work flow, but some of the problems I'm running in to definitely slow things down - I would definitely appreciate any help I can get in resolving this. Thank you!

viewNX2 Editing : After editing a jpeg the picture can only be saved in a low quality (high compression).
Why can't the save quality be set by the user?
Is there an indirect way to set the jpeg compression like editing a file?
This makes the Edit feature of viewNX 2 unusable for me although the editor is convenient.

Answer:
Easiest way is to do all the editing you need to do and then click the save button, not the save as, at the bottom of the adjustment menu. Once you have done this make sure your adjusted image is selected and click on the convert button at the top, there you can then set image to jpeg, tiff etc and also set the image size and quality.

Answer:
If you are trying to convert a jpeg then there is not a lot you can do with it, if, however, it is a NEF you are trying to convert then that is reasonably easy to do. Select the image you want to convert then click on the edit tab at the top of the page. To the right you will see the adjustments, under picture control click on the launch utility button, then in the stored controls select monochrome, once you have done this click the toning drop down and select sepia, you can adjust the intensity here as well. Once you have done this click new and give it a name, click ok then click quit. Once you have done this then go to the picture control click on the drop down and you will see your new preset at the bottom, click on it and your pic will turn to sepia, save as normal, job done.
