Key Features

To see modifications that have been made with versions 2.12.0 and 2.13.0, please click here.

Picture Control Utility: In certain Nikon digital SLRs such as the D3, D700, D300 and D90 customized image adjustment, including tone compensation curve data, can be saved to tailor the camera’s behavior to the photographer’s vision, improving efficiency when using multiple cameras at the same time.

Compatible with WiFi operation: In addition to supporting USB cable connections, Camera Control Pro offers compatibility with the optional wireless transmitter models WT-2a, WT-3a and WT-4A. When attached to a digital SLR, the WT-2a, WT-3a and WT-4A enable remote shooting and setting via a wireless LAN over WiFi.

Compatible with Nikon's Image Authentication Function: Image data can be transferred and stored without affecting the authentication function.

Take Control of Your Photography—Remotely: Using the included USB or Firewire cable and/or optional WiFi adapters for select models, Nikon Camera Control Pro enables you to capture unique images no matter what the subject.

LiveView support: Live previews direct from the camera are supported on the D3, D700, D300 and D90 when this feature is enabled. See what you are about to shoot!

Improved graphic user interface: A simulated (camera) LCD panel on the computer screen performs the same function as the camera’s viewfinder display which has been modified to be consistent with those used in the latest cameras for smoother operation.

Great Software I have been using this software for over a year and a half. It does a great job with being able to take pictures through my computer with my D800 tethered. I initially had some troubles getting my computer and camera to sync up but persisted (and bought another USB cable) and it works perfectly now. I had it running on a Windows 7 computer and now have it fully functional on a Windows 8.1 system. Other than the original issue with getting the software and the camera talking, it works like a charm and I have had no problems. There are some people who are complaining about having to pay for this software, well it does a lot and I understand that Nikon has to charge for it to be able to maintain and support it. After spending what I did for the D800 I really have no problems spending this for the software. Spend some time with it and you will learn a few tricks and find it to be as useful as I do. I use it at least twice a month and have gone through spells where I use it almost daily. If you need any support then just post a question on the support forum off the product page and either I or one of the other great Nikon users will be happy to respond to your question in a day or two. It would be nice to have it run full screen, but that is definitely not a deal breaker with this software. All I have to do is zoom in and move around on the image to view what it looks like. I have used it for stacking and the focus feature works great to accomplish this with nice small and consistent steps. October 26, 2013
Fantastic program works great on windows 7 (64 bit) Camera Control pro 2 is a great program because it supports tethered shooting with Nikon cameras and is even updated to work with the new D600. It also works great with windows 7 (64 bit). I have read that Mac users are upset that it does not work with new Mac OS update. I can shoot and view large RAW files ( 24 MP 14 bit uncompressed) almost instantly. Provides all histograms and allows the user to enlarge any part of the photo for closer examination. Thank you NIKON. September 28, 2012
Very good It has all the essential settings you have in the camera menu. I had absolutely no problems with the software, the speed is great on a decent computer with a decent camera (even on x64 win 7). I have found no bugs (oh, except one, on a tab is writen "moive" instead of "movie" :) ). I had used CCP with a d90 and now with d7000. I love the live view option, lets you focus anywhere and is perfect for viewing the colors and the final look of the photo directly on the monitor. I also love how the new features of the d7000 were added especially "timelapse photography", a very usefull feature. With a decent computer, a decent camera and a lot of creativity this software is very helpfull. January 28, 2012
Six Months and Still Waiting CC Pro 2 is very capable and useful in the studio. Unfortunately, if you have a new Mac you cannot use it. I fear that by the time they make it compatible with Lion, it will be incompatible with the next OS upgrade. I gave it stars for the features and functionality, but it is useless if it will not run on computers that have been out for over half a year. December 9, 2011
Great Software This is a wonderful software. It allows full control of my Nikon D90. Its coolest feature is the "Time Lapse Photograhy", with which one can take photos at regular intervals automatically. I will definitely recommend this. October 14, 2011

I'm using iMac 27 i7 with OS X Lion. After installing the software, I get the message:
Cannot start the application. It may not be installed properly. Please re-install the application using the installer.

I have tried reinstalling several times and its the same thing over again every time. I figured that maybe the 2.9 update must be installed so I tried to install it after successfully installing the 2.8 full but the popup comes that Camera control pro 2 is not installed.

Is it not OS X Lion compatible or what is going on?

Hello,
I am using the Nikon D5100 with the Nikkor DX AF-S 18-105mm. My question: Is it possible, to control the focus motor manually? So basically to focus manually via tethering and without touching the camera? And can this somehow be done with Camera Control Pro 2, and if not maybe by another program?

When i shoot tethered to my d700,approx 1 out of every 10-15 shots does not load to the laptop? why do some files just never show up,and many times i will see a tempo file name, with no data? this gets very frustrating when i am doing light painting of 30 seconds or more and then the file never appears, even though you hear the shutter opening and closing.

I am loosing connection regularly ("No camera Connected") when using:
- MacBook Pro, running 10.6.8
- Camera Control Pro 2 v 2.9.0
- Nikon D300s
- using different cables -different brands
Extremely annoying and embarrassing when you're shooting mainly Boards of Directors.

There are also tons of Nikon photographers having connectivity problems using Adobe software. Check Google. I haven't seen any answer on forums and or from any manufacturer involved.

Help please!

I'm looking to do detailed setups on my cam and not have to manually go through each and every function. On my video production equipment there are several software packages that allow you to do full configurations on the settings of the gear and save them for future use on an SD card.

My 7000's have the 2 user presets but they are a pain to setup due to all the menus, any chance that this software gives me this feature?

Thanks in advance

Answer:
In the Settings menu you can use it to save Camera Control pro settings and to load and apply previously saved settings:
In Save Control Settings it will display a dialog where you can choose a destination and file name for current camera settings. Camera Control Pro settings are saved with the extension ".ncc". Note that bracketing settings, non-CPU lens settings, and changes to settings for the current Picture Control are not saved.
In Load Control Settings only files with the extension ".ncc" will be displayed in the destination that you saved them. Choose settings created with the camera currently connected. The settings in the Camera Control Pro window will instantly revert to the saved settings. Bracketing settings are not affected.

Answer:
Nikon does not have any software for iPad that will control D800. However, the wireless transmitter for the D800 can be use to transfer images from the D800 to an Ipad using a third party application called shuttersnitch. Check with the application developers for more information.

Control Live View Video on D800?

Will Camera Control Pro 2 allow remote control of Live View VIDEO on a D800?

Is there anything special I need to do to use it with a Windows 7 64-bit workstation or a Windows 7 32-bit laptop and the D800?

Will it suffice if the laptop in particular has a USB2.0 port but not USB3.0? (I realize it is backward compatible. My question is about whether the 2.0 port will be fast enough for Live View.)

Answer:
Yes you can control video. Will run on 64 bit W7 but in 32 bit mode. If the USB 2.0 ends up being a problem you can buy a 3.0 upgrade card for $15-20.
