Out of all the nikon lenses that would benefit from this system (R1C1/R1) and it's surprising that the 60mm 2.8D would need an adapter ring? The R1C1/R1 was made for this lens. Poor planning somewhere along the way.

flimsy gadget, unfortunately necessary
I cannot believe that Nikon produces such a flimsy, poorly designed attachment for its excellent R1C1 Macro Flash. The first thing you will notice, it does not attach tightly enough tou your macro lens, then, the screw stands out and every time you take the lens aout of the back it sticks out and pulls the ring off.
Unfortunately if you want to use the exellent 60mm micro nikkor you have to use this ring. So: put a piece of paper between the ring and your lens and it holds tight and replace the screw by a flat one. Then it actualy works...
