An excellent camera. Period. For an "entry-level" product the Nikon D3200 sure doesn't show it! Photo quality is unbelievable and the camera operates fast in almost any lighting condition. I got the kit which comes with an additional lens (55-200mm zoom lens) and I really like both it and the default 18-55mm lens. Switching between lenses is fast, easy and I'd say even fun. The bag the kit comes with is also very nice. Make sure you get a large-capacity class 10 sd card and you're good to go. Battery life isn't bad either when you're just using the viewfinder but you also have the option to use the camera like a point-and-shoot as well (live view mode.) I'd say this camera is great for anyone. Novice, intermediate and professional photographers alike, the D3200 is easy to operate but has enough features there to please anyone who wants to gain a higher understanding or make use of things like aperture, shutter speed, manual focusing image adjustment etc.. This digital wonder is affordable and worth every penny. I am so happy with it! April 9, 2014
Everything you need to work with and more............................. Well set up, easy to follow, has great HD........... March 21, 2014
Love it for a beginner photographer! I've recently bought this for Christmas 2013. I've been using a Nikon D80. VERY different as in buttons. Looks and feels different. I'm now used to my camera and it's weird using my dads. I've been taking pictures with my Nikon Coolpix, but it doesn't do the job. I do ride horses and this it's light and small, it is easier to take to the barn! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the wifi part! I did buy the $60 dollar Wifi thing that goes with it. Makes it a whole lot easier instead of emailing yourself 200 pictures. I defiantly recommend this! I plan on buying some more lenses as I want telephoto lenses for action pictures. The lenses that come with the camera (AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR) doesn't really take "good" action pictures in my opinion. February 25, 2014
D3200 Awesome camera! I am very pleased to have purchased a Nikon digital camera, finally. I recommend this one for any newbie photographer, it is very easy to operate, thank you Nikon! February 14, 2014
Nikon D3200 This is a great product to buy! If your beginning in Photography or Film Making its the perfect camera to start with. Its an excellent camera. December 30, 2013

Some dealers put kits together with different lenses, sometimes one or two. You will need to verify with your local dealers to see what they have available. Our suggested retail price for the D3200 is $699.95 with a AF-S Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm.

Answer:
Depth of field is a function of the lens, the d3200 does not have depth of field prevue. It does have a guide mode that softens the background. I think this is what you are referring to, it gives the backroung a blurred effect (known as bokeh)

I hate to harp on the subject, but I really need to know if you expect the red D3200 to be available and in stores by June 10th? I wanted to buy this before I left on a huge overseas trip along with a couple of new lenses.

I wish I'd never seen the red one because I was all set to buy the black one, but there was a delay at the store for black. Hard not to want to wait for the red one now when red is your favorite color.

In the June 2012 Popular Photography (page 18) it states "The D3200's built-in pop-up flash can be used for i-TTL flash control with a variety of Nikon's SB-series Speed-lights - a nice touch at this level". Is this indeed true that the built in flash can act as a commander to fire remote flashes? Perhaps I'm missing something. Thanks.

Answer:
The D3200 has no built in commander for controling flashes, so the mag was wrong. however, it can control a flash that is in SU-4 mode but it will be manual only, the only way to control flashes with ittl is to use either a SU-800 or SB-700 / 900-910 that have the commander function.

Yes it has bulb setting, you can manually hold shutter release down or use ML-L3 and start and stop up to 30 minutes of exposure. Don't know of any third party.
