Solid body, excellent images. Did not have any of the negative experiences that I saw on the many forums. The only complaint that seemed to have any merit was about the mirror slap induced shake at certain shutter speeds. That was easily worked around. Properly set up, the auto focus proved to be much better than I was led to believe. I shot birds and bugs at high speed and had very good luck. I photographed a football game and a basketball game and had almost no misses. The extra resolution, compared to my D 90 & D 80 helps when I have to crop. My favorite set up for wildlife is my D 7000 and the 300 f4 Nikkor with the 1.4 tc. Paired with my 12-24 wide angle, it does a great job with landscape photos as well. I have not tried video. July 16, 2012
It takes great pictures in a variety of conditions. I was a long time Canon/Olympus owner and switched to the Nikon D7000 because of the features and thinking I would get more better pictures on the first try under less than ideal conditions. I was not disappointed. I've had the camera and multiple lenses over a year now and still love the camera. I do mostly outdoor nature photography, but have been very impressed with the low light indoor capabilities and close up garden photos. I've even upgraded my daughters to D5100 cameras and have been impressed with those. July 16, 2012
Amazing! After doing all the research, I have decide to get the D7000 for one particular reason--nothing's much better. The D7000 outshines every competition there is. I especially love it's amazing performance in low-light situation. And, of course, Nikon D7000 simply looks "beautiful", physically. It's a head turner. Whenever I use this camera, people just stares. It's a bonus for me. July 16, 2012
Great! Just got the D7000 last week, what a vast improvement over the D200. Images are much more detailed, viewfinder is much better. July 15, 2012
all round performer this is a serious camera that Nikon has produced amateur friendly yet features pro's will love i give it a 9.2/10 July 14, 2012

On my D7000, I get a F-- error code after shooting for 30 minutes or so. The camera won't focus or take the picture. However, if I switch to aperture-priority mode, it will start working again. However, I am not completely comfortable in that mode, so I would prefer for it to work on the auto mode. Any solutions?

I noticed that the D7000 is rain proof and I would like to know the definition of the rain and duration. Is this mist, light rain, heavy rain can sit in a puddle? Is this while taking a quick shot, out for an hour or two or all day? Is this while the camera is on taking photos?

Answer:
Bill, I can only speak from personal experience and from looking the camera over. It is definitely NOT capable of sitting in a puddle. The body is sealed pretty well for inclement weather, so you could take it out in the rain without a lot of worry, BUT it does have its limits. I looked it over when I first got it and noted that for instance, the door which covers the memory cards on the right side of the camera, and the door which covers data and other ports on the left side of the camera are NOT weather sealed for anything more than being what I would call splash proof. There is no rubber seal around the edges of the doors. I would have no worries about taking the thing out in a steady rain for shots, but to leave it out in rain might be a bad idea. Hope that helps.

Answer:
Computer monitors have specific plugs and communications protocols that are different than TV. Mac monitors have different plugs and protocols than PC monitors. If by "monitor" you mean a TV monitor, a D7000 can connect using an HDMI cable. I am not aware of any easy way to connect your D7000 directly to a computer monitor, unless it has RGB connectors (most computer monitors don't have those, as they are analog, and their signal must be processed), or an HDMI plug, like digital TVs.

I recently filled my Card 1 (memory card in slot 1) and as I kept trying to take pictures the camera stopped taking pictures (there was a card in memory slot 2 and set at overflow).
I switched card 2 in slot 1, added a new card in slot 2 and the camera started taking pictures again except when ever I press the shutter release the icon for slot 2 blinks for a moment (even though slot 1 has a card with space on it and supposedly is recording)

My question is is it normal for slot 2 icon to blink whenever I press the shutter release button?
Also I understand the card in slot 1 was full, but why did the camera not start recording to the empty memory card in slot 2. Yes I had it set at overflow, no locks on the SD cards.

Hi - I upgraded to the d7000 recently and am wondering if something is wrong with my auto iso function.
It works normally so long as I am in M, A, or S modes, and I set the maximum to 6400.
However, in the no-flash mode or any scene mode the auto iso NEVER goes above 1600, even in total darkness. In M, S, or A it goes up to the max regularly as it should.
Is there something wrong with my auto iso for non-flash mode and scenes? It is odd that it will not go above 1600...

Thank you.

Answer:
Yes, as long as you have the camera set up to shoot raw you can shoot in any mode. I would personally shoot in raw + Jpeg as it makes like much easier.

When using an AI lens with the D7000, does the aperture work automatically the same way it does on a film camera? I.e. for focus the aperture blades are wide open, then they stop down for the exposure when you press the shutter release.

Answer:
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. There is an aperture preview button that you can press to see what the focus for the image will appear as before you take the shot. This is not the view you see through the viewfinder unless you press the button. Otherwise, the aperture setting will be applied to the captured photograph. Does that answer your question?
