Enjoy the view

Like all D-SLR cameras, the D3300 has an optical viewfinder that gives you a true view through the lens of the camera—and what a view it is! If you've been using a point-and-shoot camera, you'll find it easier to frame your shots, follow moving subjects, zoom in on bright sunny days and more.

Catch every moment

When the action starts, hold down the shutter button to capture every movement, expression and feeling at 5 frames per second—that's 5 beautiful photos for every second of action! You won't believe some of the moments you'll catch thanks to Nikon's new high-speed EXPEED 4 processing engine.

Focus on the details

The D3300's 11-point Autofocus System locks onto your subjects as soon as they enter the frame and stays with them until you catch the shot you want. Even fast-moving subjects are captured with tack-sharp precision. And when you're recording Full HD video, Full-time Autofocus keeps the focus where you want it.

Capture the sights and sounds

The D3300 doesn't only take great photos, it takes dazzling 1080p Full HD video with sound, too! Record smooth, ultra-sharp HD movies you can play back on your HDTV or upload to video sites. You can even apply those fun special effects for more creativity!

Great! This is my first DSLR, and I was a little bit worried about the learning curve required to be able to take good pictures and to adjust the settings myself. It's automatic and guide modes were extremely helpful getting me started, and now I feel comfortable enough to start trying other settings and really get a feel for it. All of the pictures are super high quality, great color, and it's easy to use straight out of the box. This camera is small, lightweight, easy to carry around, and super fun to use! March 9, 2014
Absolutely Incredible I just so happened to be in the market for my first DSLR right about when Nikon had announced the camera and a fried which is a photographer that was helping me pick out a camera advised I wait and get a D3300, I did and I love it. Granted it is my first so I really don't have much to compare it to, but so far it has really helped my learning go very easily and smoothly and a lot of fun! I highly recommend this guy for beginners like myself! February 25, 2014

Answer:
I agree, this is a great camera for beginners. I am in the same boat. I've only used a point-and-shoot until now and upgraded to this camera this week. There's a lot to learn but I LOVE it, and I definitely see the difference in quality.

Answer:
While you will have more keepers it will also take your knowhow with your tool to get the desired results. Being able to manually set a shutter speed, apeture will help get ypu the best results. Motion blur comes from a slow shutter speed whereas focus is where you or your camera sees as the focal point. To eliminate motion blur you will need a faster shutter speed. To compensate for a fast shutter speed especially in low light you will need to boost our ISO

Answer:
Like any DSLR, the shots will be clear depending on the shutter speed you use. If you use a lower shutter speed, the shots may be blurry, but a faster shutter speed will help freeze the action.

Answer:
The D3300 does not have automatic HDR, but it does have an HDR painting effects mode. When using HDR Painting the camera shoots 2 frames at different exposures and combines them for a painterly effect that emphasizes detail and color.

I'm quite interested in knowing more about certain features, the ability to customize the controls and things like that. I'd love to download the manual so that when the camera is in stores, I'll have a better idea of what to check out and try.

Answer:
A smaller lens would not effect image quality. Image Quality of the image would be the format that the image is being shot. With a smaller lens, shots may also be captured at a different angle.
