I recommend this camera!
I was replacing a digital camera I had owned for over ten years and after much procrastination purchased this Nikon on an impulse at Target store without research or planning. I am extremely happy with this camera! I have no complaints! This is by far the best purchase of any electronic I have ever made. I love that it uses disposable batteries! The zoom is amazing! With an 8GB memory card, I have yet to run out space even at 8megapixels per shot. My old camera was not advanced enough to shoot in this detail and at this magnification. I am SUPER pleased. Price is way below what this camera should be selling for. I will be buying more of these as Christmas presents for close friends and family.

Easy learning curve; fabulous pics
Bought this camera two days before going on a cruise and had no trouble learning how to use it on flight to ship. The zoom is what I was hoping for; closeups equally clear. Used the auto focus often and was pleased with the results. I played with the settings at various locations - beach, aquarium, bars, nighttime, etc and always got a pic I liked. My purchase criteria was shutter speed, distance landscape shots, flowers, and grandkids - the Nikon delivered on all fronts. The price was reasonable and the camera shop I purchased it at also provides a free class that I intend to take at a later time. An added bonus.

Wonderful camera!
I got the l810 for my dad on fathers day. But he doesn't really use it, so he have it to me. I absolutely love it. The only draw back is that it's slow at focusing. Other then that it is a wonderful camera. I would definitely recommend this camera to a novice or beginner photographer, even a pro.

Great Camera that takes very good pictures.
Have only had the camera for a short time, but so far I think it's a great little camera loaded with many features.
I have read nagitive remarks about the slow focus and to a degree that's true, but not near as bad as I had read.
I owned the Coolpix S6100 that I gave to my daughter before getting this camera and don'e see very little difference.
When I need fast focus like weddings and sporting events I will drag out my DSLR and lug it around.
The one thing I really like about staying with Nikon is the features are very close just different mechanics getting to them.
I also like the size and feel of the camera. on all the other P&S cameras I have owned, if not for the wrist strap I would have dropped them, not this camera, it has the feel of a DSLR, but about 1/4 the weight.

Answer:
sorry, no. in fact, most cameras are not, and those that are are specifically marketed as being "waterproof". i refer you to, for example, the Nikon AW100:http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product/Compact-Digital-Cameras/26293/COOLPIX-AW100.html
that one IS waterproof. no question about it.

The P310 would be a much better choice. It has good low light capabilities and you will have about an 84 degree field of vision.3 weeks, 4 days ago

The new COOLPIX L810 was announced yesterday and it’s usually available after 30 to 45 days after this. You may want to check with your local dealer or keep visiting our Nikon store.
After the button is pressed to take a picture, does the camera need to focus for a few seconds, or will it take the picture the second the button is pressed?

Most of the time shooting delay is caused by focusing. Press the button half way down (and hold it in) and let the camera focus; when the subject is perfect press the button the rest of the way to shoot. With a bit of practice it is easy to get the perfect photo.Has staff answer
