So Happy! I bought this camera for a trip to Tanzania and the Serengeti without knowing anything about it. I was thrilled with the pictures I captured, often from a moving vehicle. The videos were also wonderful. I will treasure these pictures for a lifetime. The camera is light, compact, and sooooooo easy to use, even for a novice. The pictures are clear and when enlarged are so clear that eyelashes can be seen on the giraffe and the fur and spots on a cheeta come into view. Did I say I was Happy? March 11, 2014
Excellent camera for the money..... I have used Nikon for years like the S2 & D70 with great success. I purchased the S9500 and it is the best small camera I have seen to date. Even though I adjusted the color to be a little more vivid the pictures are outstanding. The scene dial on top makes changes easy and the Wifi is out of this world. To download to my smartphone with no cables is great. I love that you can put the camera anywhere and control it remotely by your smartphone. The 22x zoom lens is excellent. The GPS is a bonus. When you pickup the S9500 you can feel the quality with a metal body. Most small cameras are cheap plastic .The best of all is when I shut off the flash and shot in the evening when the light is low, the pictures are still great. Nikon keep it up, to me you are still truly the best. January 1, 2014
New User! I've had my Coolpix for a couple of days, but I am REALLY impressed!! Thanks so much! November 30, 2013
Clear, crisp pictures Great Zoom. Used it for the first time today. I was told by Dodd Camera that it would be even better than the camera that I was replacing. (I dropped it when the lens was extended.) They were right. November 25, 2013
Amazing "walk around" camera I'm 66, and have been "Nikon" for just over 50 years. My prime camera is a D5100 (shortly to be a D5300 - would buy the D800 but it's too heavy and I don't need 40 x 60 blowups or make pro movies! The S9500 is an amazing camera. If you take the time (highly recommended) to really read through the complete manual (on the DVD not the "short" user guide) and practice going through the menus, you have a semi-pro camera that will produce very high quality pictures that you can blow up to 11x14 or even 16x20 (if you got lighting, focus, and exposure spot on). My only issue is a ton of noise on video in low light conditions. You can adjust for exposure and color balance in post, but it can't touch video that has been taken with a larger sensor. Check out and compare the specs to this and most other Coolpix cameras (at any price). You will see that this is virtually the top of the line. October 22, 2013

I have an S8100 and recenlty purchased a S9500. With the S8100 I was able to take pictures while recording a movie. It doesn't appear that the S9500 has this option? Very disappointed a step down.

Is there a reason why the Coolpix S9500 camera takes a while to focus, from time to time, while on the "Scene Auto Selector" or "Auto Mode" modes? This happens in daylight or nighttime. Is there a software/firmware glitch inside the camera or is this how the S9500 behaves?

I did open a case with Nikon but wanted to know if others are experiencing the same issue.

I bought the S9500 and played with the menus for a few hours. One item I could not find was any way to switch the video from 4:3 to 16:9. I use multiple cameras and need to have each camera shooting the same Aspect for easy editing. Does anyone know if this camera can shoot HD video in 16:9?

Answer:
The Wi-Fi option in the S9500 menu will be grayed out if there is no memory card inserted in the camera, if the battery is not fully charged, or if an Eye-Fi card is inserted in the camera. With an approved memory card and a fully charged battery inserted you should be able to access the S9500's Wi-Fi settings and turn the on the Wi-Fi.

Detailed instructions on using the Wi-Fi feature of the COOLPIX S9500 start on page 93 if the S9500 manual. A list of approved memory cards for the S9500 can be found on page 17. A copy of the S9500 manual can be downloaded from here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

I've tried at dusk and at night, but cannot get the camera to take it quick enough to get good focus of the moon's surface (so you can see the man in the moon). The moon is always too bright. Any suggestions? On my SLR I can manually set the shutter speed. Is there an automatic setting on the S9500?

The background is primarily shrubs/trees, so lots of green with varying depth. Often the camera can't focus on the feeder using Target in autofocus. It seems to get it for a moment, then goes blurry. I'm using the full optical zoom, no digital. ISO at 1600 does pretty well, but maybe the 3200 would be better? Suggestions for all settings appreciated.

The camera will freeze up randomly. The lens keeps working but there are no buttons you can push or dials you can turn to unfreeze the screen (Stays frozen like it was trying to focus on a shot). The only way to reset is to open up the trap door and pop out the battery. I even turned all GPS type functions off and it still did it.

Answer:
In order to successfully use the Easy Panorama mode you must move the camera very steadily and slowly. When the camera movement speed is too fast, there is a large amount of camera shake or there is little change in subject such as a wall or in the dark, the shooting ends in an error. Please see pages 2 and 3 of the Reference section of the COOLPIX S9500 manual for more information.

If you have enabled the GPS feature of the S9500 and data is not being recorded, there could be interference that is preventing the camera from receiving position information. Please see page 89 of the S9500 of the manual for more information. Also please see page 59 of the Reference section of the manual for information on updating the camera's A-GPS file.

A copy of the COOLPIX S9500 manual can be downloaded from this address: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/ans...

If I edit and save a photo in the S9500 camera, I can't seem to transfer it to my iPhone. An X shows up in place of the thumbnail and it cannot be selected. Obviously, this is a very common task since you would typically want to crop of otherwise enhance a photo before mailing it or sharing it on a social network. How can I transfer edited photos?
