Easy to use and carry I bought this one as soon as it was available. I have taken it on some cruises, to the beach, on the kayak and on the trail. I have never had to worry about it getting wet, unlike some of my friends. The is best waterproof camera that I have owned. I have owned 2 others. April 8, 2014
Love the quality and ease of use!!! Perfect camera for beach, snorkeling and everyday!!! I bought this camera at Costco in St. Louis, Missouri and couldn't believe I was getting 16 mega pixels, full 1080 HD video and a Nikon that was waterproof for the price!!! I had read a few negative reviews but decided to give it a try. We literally hit the water running with this camera!!! Daily snorkeling in Cozumel, diving up to 20 or more feet for close ups, taking it in the pool and getting funny looks from others thinking we just ruined our camera and much more. I have also used it back in the U. S. for birthday parties, hiking and everyday pictures. I am finding I don't even want to use my Canon or IPhone for pictures anymore!!! The negative reviews I did read are more like just using common sense when using the camera. Be sure to properly close the battery compartment before getting wet and allow camera to dry and remove sand or debris with the little brush they provide you with before opening. As far as foggy lenses go think of it like your sunglasses. If you have it in air conditioning or cool weather and all of a sudden you try to use it in the sun or warm water it may fog up a little. I only experienced this 1 time and all I had to do was wipe it off. In my opinion it is a great, compact, easy to use, well priced, quality and underwater capable camera!!! Would I buy it again? Most definitely!!! I hope some of you will find this information useful!!! February 25, 2014
Great options I like the GPS and the waterproof feature. Very compact too. February 20, 2014
Best in class I lost my Nikon AW-110 in the woods while hunting in early January 2014. It spent 4 weeks alone, naked and afraid in the rain, snow and single digit temps. I found it, dripping wet in the snow last weekend and feared for it's survival. I hit the power switch and "bing" it turned on. I pressed the shutter switch --"click" --and a picture appeared on the screen. Fantastic!! If you need professional pics--get a pro DSLR. If you need an underwater camera--buy one. if you want a tough camera for the outdoors the that takes great pics and videos then the AW-110 can do it. Tough and reliable it's the best point and click I've ever owned. The best in class I now have 3 Nikon point and clicks, one Nikon DSLR and one SLR that all work great. I also have 3 "other brand" "digital cameras--all broken. I just ordered a new rifle scope --a Nikon . As an outdoor person I appreciate quality and durability. February 5, 2014
Very happy so far... Purchased this camera to replace the my older point ant shoot I went snorkeling with in the pocket of my trunks that was not designed to get wet... I have used it once snorkeling as well as indoors and outdoors on cruise ship excursions and like the camera very well (over 4 days). The photos and video look very good and it is easy to use in the water and out. I do not have a laptop to review the photos on a large HD screen but I will be surprised if there are any issues for me as a casual user. I like the GPS option and found the compass function to be a nice touch. The compass is visible in the display when shooting and reviewing making situational awareness much better when traveling in unfamiliar areas. The one feature the was a bit of a pain (and it may be user error...) is the GPS log function. It seems that every time it logs a position, it takes over the screen and I had to turn the camera off and back on to take a photo. I just now have Internet access am downloading the full manual and will be able to look at that. A quick start manual is all that was included in the box. It also does not have an SD card and my old one was ruined by the swim... November 30, 2013

Answer:
Nikon does not manufacture a solar battery charger. There may be a third party manufacturer of a product of this kind but Nikon cannot offer advice or support for third party products. Additionally, the use of non-Nikon electronic accessories could damage the camera and may void your Nikon warranty.

Answer:
When the Wifi feature is activated on the AW110, the camera creates it own wifi hot spot which you must connect to using an Iphone, Ipad, Adroid smart phone, or android tablet, and you need to have the 'WMAU' (Wireless mobile Adapter Utility) already installed on your smart device before trying to connect. The app can be downloaded from the google play store and Apple app store using your smart device. The AW110 cannot connect to your broadband router or anything else.

After turning on the AW100 Wifi, You should see an SSID displayed, and colurful square boxes moving around on your AW110 screen. At this point, you must go to the settings on your Iphone, Ipad, Adroid smart phone, or android tablet, and activate the Wifi, and you will see the SSID on the camera screen displayed as one of the available networks on your Smart device. Tap the network to connect. After connecting to the network, Open the WMAU app and enjoy remote shooting with the AW110 using Your smart device.

Answer:
The Wi-Fi option in the COOLPIX AW-110 menu will be greyed out if there is no memory card inserted in the camera or if an Eye-Fi card is inserted in the camera. Also, since Wi-Fi will add to the camera's power usage, be sure to have a fully charged battery in the camera when using this feature.

For more information on using the Wi-Fi feature of the AW-110 see page 91 of the AW-110 manual. A copy of the AW-110 manual can be found here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

Answer:
Nikon does not make wide-angle or fisheye converter attachments for the COOLPIX AW-110. However, the AW-110 has a 5.0-25.0mm lens with an angle of view equivalent to that of 28-140mm lens in 35mm [135] format. The AW-110 also has a built-in fisheye effect that can be applied to images after they are taken. You can find more information about the fisheye effect on page 48 of the AW-110 manual. Answer:
The Wireless Mobile Utility currently allows the user to take still photos remotely and to transfer pictures from the camera's memory card to their smart device. The user can control the zoom of the camera but other camera features must be set in the camera prior to connecting wirelessly to the app. Unfortunately Nikon cannot speculate about future products or enhancements until official information is announced on our web site: www.nikonusa.com.

For the Nikon AW-110, aside from the fastest Class 10 memory card designation that it supports either with use of a SD, SDHC or SDXC card, will it do me any good to purchase something like a Delkin 128GB UHS-1 card in the SDXC format or is the speed of this card too fast for the Aw-110 to take advantage of the fast transfer and read/write speeds advertised for this type of Delkin memory card?

Get a Class ten card. UHS-1 devices indicate UHS-1 support. A UHS-1 card can still be using in a device that support SDXC and SDHC but it will not take advantage of the UHS-1 speed.

I have the AW110 and it takes great pictures. However, almost all of the pictures are rotated 90 degrees CCW. If I take a picture oriented in landscape, when I look at the picture in playback it will be in portrait. Same when I transfer the picture to a PC. Even if I took the picture in landscape the picture will be rotated 90 degrees CCW on the computer. I have to manually go in and rotate the pictures 90 degrees CW. I don't see any settings to control this and all the camera settings are in default. Please help.

And I also wonder what would be the best filter to use at 30-60 feet of depth if the flash imparts to much flare around the camera. I am trying to avoid 'blued-out' underwater images.

I need to disable the flash when taking pictures. I have turned off the flash. In low light situations, the flash is turning on, I assume to support the auto focus (when I take the picture, it does not flash). Is there a way to completely disable the flash? Or maybe use a specific mode?

Answer:
To disable the AF-assist illuminator in the COOLPIX AW110 press the menu button, then select the wrench icon to enter the Setup Menu. Scroll down until you see the AF Assist option, then press the right arrow to enter the available settings for this option. Select "Off" and click the OK button to save. Please note that when the AF-assist illuminator is disabled the camera may have trouble focusing in low light situations.

Answer:
The AW110 lens focal length is 5.0-25.0mm (angle of view equivalent to that of 28-140mm lens in 35mm [135] format).
It's optical zoom is 5x.
The digital zoom can magnify up to about 4x (angle of view equivalent to that of 560mm lens in 35mm [135] format) beyond the maximum magnification of the optical zoom.
The playback zoom increases up to 10x.

I understand that the tech specs for the AW110 say that the shots per charge is 250 shots. However, how do you factor shooting video into that? Is there a scale which measures Seconds of Video that you would get per charge? Then, I could do the math on shots and video and know how many batteries I'll need for a trip (no electricity where I'm going). Thank you.

Was using the camera on a Italy vacation last week. When I had GPS turned on, the camera would lock up at times. When this happens, the camera is basically stuck, you can't even turn it off. I would proceed to remove the battery, reinsert, and then restart the camera. I never saw this issue when not using the GPS.
