My AW100 died and Nikon CS took great care of a customer The camera takes just as great photos as my AW100. My AW100 died but Nikon Customer Service worked with me and took care of me. Great follow through for customer service and what soured my opinion actually came through. The camera is great although I haven't taken use of the WiFi yet. I have used it a few time of my nieces and nephews in the backyard pool and everyone was loving the results. August 29, 2014
Owned for 3+ years and never a fault Ive had mine since Christmas of 2011. This guy has been to the beach and pool countless times with never an issue. Always cleaned it with fresh water, and I have never doubted the seals. I am hoping the new ones are mostly user error than hardware error because unless there is a bad internal seal somewhere, I really do not see how it can fail. August 14, 2014
best underwater camera out there I bought one of these last year at a target store while on vacation in Orlando for discovery cove, for $349.00. It took amazing shots and video at depths greater than 15ft. I was using it underwater for hours with no problems, and no signs of leakage. When I got out of the water, I noticed I must have scratched the orange paint on a rock. The scratch bothered me so much that I exchanged it the next day for a new one. I keep my electronics meticulous. Well took the new one in the pool a week later back home, and after about an hour in the water the screen went black. So I returned that one also, I was so mad at myself for returning the first one that had the little scratch on it, but worked fine. Anyways, Walmart has these on clearance for $229 right now (May 2014), I even asked the manager if she could discount it even more, so she took off another $21. Long story short, so far so good. No problems whatsoever, takes beautiful shots, and no signs of leakage. I guess it's just the luck of the draw with these. May 18, 2014
Easy to use and carry I bought this one as soon as it was available. I have taken it on some cruises, to the beach, on the kayak and on the trail. I have never had to worry about it getting wet, unlike some of my friends. The is best waterproof camera that I have owned. I have owned 2 others. April 8, 2014
Love the quality and ease of use!!! Perfect camera for beach, snorkeling and everyday!!! I bought this camera at Costco in St. Louis, Missouri and couldn't believe I was getting 16 mega pixels, full 1080 HD video and a Nikon that was waterproof for the price!!! I had read a few negative reviews but decided to give it a try. We literally hit the water running with this camera!!! Daily snorkeling in Cozumel, diving up to 20 or more feet for close ups, taking it in the pool and getting funny looks from others thinking we just ruined our camera and much more. I have also used it back in the U. S. for birthday parties, hiking and everyday pictures. I am finding I don't even want to use my Canon or IPhone for pictures anymore!!! The negative reviews I did read are more like just using common sense when using the camera. Be sure to properly close the battery compartment before getting wet and allow camera to dry and remove sand or debris with the little brush they provide you with before opening. As far as foggy lenses go think of it like your sunglasses. If you have it in air conditioning or cool weather and all of a sudden you try to use it in the sun or warm water it may fog up a little. I only experienced this 1 time and all I had to do was wipe it off. In my opinion it is a great, compact, easy to use, well priced, quality and underwater capable camera!!! Would I buy it again? Most definitely!!! I hope some of you will find this information useful!!! February 25, 2014

Answer:
Unfortunately, the information that you are requesting is not part of the published specification of this camera, and certain features of Nikon cameras are not available in all countries. It appears that you are from Greece and therefore it would be best to contact Nikon Greece to find out what the technical specifications of the AW110 available in Greece are. Street names are not part of the AW110 map feature. However, it is able to display points of interests (POI) on the map. In other for POI to be displayed on the map, GPS signal is required and points of interests must be turned on in the GPS menu.

So i've used a ton of cameras, so i'm not a newbie. When i attempt to go into sports scene mode on the aw110, it's horid. I click the shutter to take a picture -single picture- but the camera shows a rotating icon on the screen, and shows me that it took 2 or more pictures. Well, all that time waiting on the rotating icon means i missed my next shot. Now if i go into normal camera mode, and take a single picture, i can take another one immediately. Now here is my guess as to what is happening. Nikon has put SPORTS mode into continuous picture capability so you can hold down the shutter and get up to 6 pix. Well, in doing that, it doesnt save the pix until all of them have been taken. They go into maybe RAM memory until then. Once done, it saves the pix, so thus the circle rotating icon. However, if I am in SPORTS mode and i try to take a SINGLE picture, quick push of the shutter, it appears to not like that, so instead it takes 2 pictures, and i have to wait until RAM saves to SD card before i can take another shot. Well, that's terrible. Sports mode should NOT equal 2+ picture ONLY. I see no way to take a single picture in SPORTS mode.
The only way to accomplish a "sports" picture, is to set the camera to AUTO, change the settings to everything i need, and then take pictures like that.
Does anyone know how to get SPORTS mode to take a single picture, without all of the waiting, and without it taking more than 1 picture?
(btw, my SD card is fast, class 10, this is NOT an issue).

THanks for any help!

Answer:
The AW100 does not have a wifi feature. If what you have is the AW110, the setup instruction is below.

First, you will need to download an application called WMU (Wireless Mobile Utility) to your Apple INC or Android smart device. The application can be downloaded free of charge from the application store on your smart device. You must also have a fully charge battery and an SD Card in the AW110.

(1)Press the menu button on the AW110.
(2) Highlight the wrench and press OK.
(3)Scroll down and highlight 'WiFi Options' and press OK.
(4)Scroll UP and select WiFi Network and press OK, then select 'ON' and press OK.
Note: If your battery is not fully charge, or if there is not a memory card in the camera, or if the usb cable is plug into the camera, or if an Eye-Fi card is in the camera, "WiFi Network' will be greyed out.

Once 'Wi-FI network' is activated on your camera, you will see an SSID(network name) display on the camera screen, and you will also see four square boxes going around on the camera screen.

5. Go to the settings menu on your Android phone/ Android tablet or IPhone/IPad and turn On it's Wi-Fi setting. After a few seconds, your phone, tablet, or Ipad will display a list of available wi-fi networks that you can connect to.

6.Tap on the network that is the same name as the SSID displayed on your camera screen.

Once your smart device is connected to the Camera network, you will see 'Negotiating' on the camera screen. At that point , you should open up the WMU application that you downloaded to your smart device.

Answer:
The camera takes one picture for each eye to simulate a three-dimensional image on a 3D-compatible TV or monitor. After pressing the shutter-release button to shoot the first frame, move the camera horizontally to the right until the guide on the screen overlaps the subject. The camera automatically captures the second image when it detects that the subject is aligned with the guide.

How does one get Photo data on playback of photos already taken? When shooting, one depresses the shutter release halfway, the camera displays the shutter speed and F-stop. When I look at my playback the display only shows date , picture number and altimeter/depth. I've never had a digital camera that does not display this information. It is useful to know speed and f-stop so that you can modify results in further shoots. I imagine I could find the EXIF data in Photoshop, but I'd like to know were in the camera I could find it. I found nothing in the pdf manual regarding this issue.

I purchased an HDMI cable to view pictures and video on my TV in a higher resolution, I can't get it to display pics or video on any TV. I have gone through the manual and tried everything. Is the output on the camera just not working?

Answer:
With the COOLPIX AW110, the TV settings must be adjusted in camera. Select a picture resolution for HDMI output from Auto (default setting), 480p, 720p or 1080i. When Auto is set, the output resolution that is best suited to the connected TV is selected automatically from 480p, 720p or 1080i. For set up instructions, please see page 80 of the reference section of the User's Manual for the COOLPIX AW110: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

I have been using this camera for almost three months now and I noticed that many many times, the flash does not turn on even when the camera is operated in low light environment. I tried to set the flash to work in every situation, but when I press the flash button, I am presented with only two options: Auto and off. How can I set it to ON like on my other coolpix camera I have.

Hey,

I have been reading a lot of reviews and it seems like there are a lot of people with the same problem: Camera is fogging up underwater and the display eventually does not work anymore.
Are these reviewers just not capable of using the camera correctly or is there a real problem with the camera or a certain manufacturing series?

Thank you.

Answer:
The camera should not fog underwater. Of course, within the operating environment - extreme differences in temperature may cause fogging on the inside of the monitor or the lens. This is not a camera malfunction or defect. If it is extremely warm outside and you go into an extremely cool underwater temperature, fogging may happen.

I love my camera but the battery life has been horrible. I don't think I've ever got more than 50 pictures from a fully charged battery. Yesterday was typical, went to the river with my grandson and only only took 32 pictures before the battery was dead. No video, no shooting in continuous, the GPS is off and I'm pretty conscientious about turning the camera off even before standby or the auto shutdown. I'm using the OEM nikon battery and charger that came with the camera. This was happening even on first use and I thought it was becaus the battery might not have been fully charged. Am I doing something wrong or is there a defect, camera or battery?

Are you planning on developing an app for Windows 8 in order to transfer images? I do not have any Apple or Android devices and find it frustrating that I cannot transfer to my PC that runs on one of the most widely used operating systems!

I used WMU to transfer images from my camera to my cell phone so that I can share them with friends (using MMS, Facebook or Instagram).Every time I try, I get an error message that says "unsupported format". Do the images need to be converted to a different format in order to be shared?
