Easy to use and carry I bought this one as soon as it was available. I have taken it on some cruises, to the beach, on the kayak and on the trail. I have never had to worry about it getting wet, unlike some of my friends. The is best waterproof camera that I have owned. I have owned 2 others. April 8, 2014
Love the quality and ease of use!!! Perfect camera for beach, snorkeling and everyday!!! I bought this camera at Costco in St. Louis, Missouri and couldn't believe I was getting 16 mega pixels, full 1080 HD video and a Nikon that was waterproof for the price!!! I had read a few negative reviews but decided to give it a try. We literally hit the water running with this camera!!! Daily snorkeling in Cozumel, diving up to 20 or more feet for close ups, taking it in the pool and getting funny looks from others thinking we just ruined our camera and much more. I have also used it back in the U. S. for birthday parties, hiking and everyday pictures. I am finding I don't even want to use my Canon or IPhone for pictures anymore!!! The negative reviews I did read are more like just using common sense when using the camera. Be sure to properly close the battery compartment before getting wet and allow camera to dry and remove sand or debris with the little brush they provide you with before opening. As far as foggy lenses go think of it like your sunglasses. If you have it in air conditioning or cool weather and all of a sudden you try to use it in the sun or warm water it may fog up a little. I only experienced this 1 time and all I had to do was wipe it off. In my opinion it is a great, compact, easy to use, well priced, quality and underwater capable camera!!! Would I buy it again? Most definitely!!! I hope some of you will find this information useful!!! February 25, 2014
Great options I like the GPS and the waterproof feature. Very compact too. February 20, 2014
Best in class I lost my Nikon AW-110 in the woods while hunting in early January 2014. It spent 4 weeks alone, naked and afraid in the rain, snow and single digit temps. I found it, dripping wet in the snow last weekend and feared for it's survival. I hit the power switch and "bing" it turned on. I pressed the shutter switch --"click" --and a picture appeared on the screen. Fantastic!! If you need professional pics--get a pro DSLR. If you need an underwater camera--buy one. if you want a tough camera for the outdoors the that takes great pics and videos then the AW-110 can do it. Tough and reliable it's the best point and click I've ever owned. The best in class I now have 3 Nikon point and clicks, one Nikon DSLR and one SLR that all work great. I also have 3 "other brand" "digital cameras--all broken. I just ordered a new rifle scope --a Nikon . As an outdoor person I appreciate quality and durability. February 5, 2014
Very happy so far... Purchased this camera to replace the my older point ant shoot I went snorkeling with in the pocket of my trunks that was not designed to get wet... I have used it once snorkeling as well as indoors and outdoors on cruise ship excursions and like the camera very well (over 4 days). The photos and video look very good and it is easy to use in the water and out. I do not have a laptop to review the photos on a large HD screen but I will be surprised if there are any issues for me as a casual user. I like the GPS option and found the compass function to be a nice touch. The compass is visible in the display when shooting and reviewing making situational awareness much better when traveling in unfamiliar areas. The one feature the was a bit of a pain (and it may be user error...) is the GPS log function. It seems that every time it logs a position, it takes over the screen and I had to turn the camera off and back on to take a photo. I just now have Internet access am downloading the full manual and will be able to look at that. A quick start manual is all that was included in the box. It also does not have an SD card and my old one was ruined by the swim... November 30, 2013

Answer:
The file numbering in the COOLPIX AW110 can be reset by using the "Reset All" feature.

If you have images on your memory card or in your internal memory, then "Reset All" will set the file number to the next number after the highest existing number. If you have no images on your memory card or internal memory then when you "Reset All" the next image will be named 001.

More information on "Reset All" can be found on page 87 of the Reference section of the AW110 manual. A copy of the AW110 manual can be downloaded from here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

Answer:
To enable GPS recording in your AW110 press the Menu button and select the satelitte icon to access the GPS menu. Select GPS Options, go to Record GPS Data, then choose "ON".

Please refer to the Using GPS/Displaying Maps section of the AW110 manual for important information on GPS settings, satelitte reception and updating the camera's A-GPS file. Using the lates A-GPS file can shorten the time needed for tracking the position information.

The Using GPS/Displaying Maps section of the AW110 manual starts on page 82. Detailed information on updating the A-GPS file in your AW110 can be found on page 59 of the Reference section of the AW110 manual. Answer:
It could be because you have the camera set to a Scene Mode, Easy Auto, or Smart Portrait mode.
To use the multi Selector down to activate Close-UP, the camera must be in Auto Mode(Not Scene Mode, Easy Auto, or Smart Portrait).

To select Auto mode, press the shooting mode button (button with the green camera icon) then scroll down and select Auto Mode (First camera icon from the bottom left corner of the screen)

I just purchased my AW110. After fully charging the battery, I set up the camera and took about 70 photos and two short (30 seconds) videos. The battery was fully drained! Is this normal given that it was a newly set up camera? Will my battery last longer in the future?

Answer:
Both the AW100 and the AW110 are waterproof* and shockproof* and freezeproof.* Both cameras also have built in GPS, mapping, electronic compass and Wi-Fi®. While these 2 models have many other features in common, there are differences worth noting, such as:
-The AW110 can shoot up to 6 shots at approximately 8 frames per second at full resolution. The AW100 can shoot up to 3 shots at approximately 7.1 frames per second at full resolution.
-The AW110 enables shooting pictures underwater at a depth of 18m (59ft) for up to 60 minutes. The AW100 enables shooting underwater at a depth of 10m (33ft) for up to 60 minutes.
-The AW110 has a 614,000 dot monitor while the AW100 has a 460,000 dot monitor.

A good way to compare these 2 cameras is to use the Compare tool on Nikonusa.com. Go to the following page, check the Compare checkbox for each camera, then click Compare Now to see their specifications side-by-side:
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

*Please refer to the product manuals for any applicable restrictions. The manuals for the AW100 and the AW110 can be downloaded from here:

Unfortunately, the information that you are requesting is not part of the published specification of this camera, and certain features of Nikon cameras are not available in all countries. It appears that you are from Greece and therefore it would be best to contact Nikon Greece to find out what the technical specifications of the AW110 available in Greece are. So i've used a ton of cameras, so i'm not a newbie. When i attempt to go into sports scene mode on the aw110, it's horid. I click the shutter to take a picture -single picture- but the camera shows a rotating icon on the screen, and shows me that it took 2 or more pictures. Well, all that time waiting on the rotating icon means i missed my next shot. Now if i go into normal camera mode, and take a single picture, i can take another one immediately. Now here is my guess as to what is happening. Nikon has put SPORTS mode into continuous picture capability so you can hold down the shutter and get up to 6 pix. Well, in doing that, it doesnt save the pix until all of them have been taken. They go into maybe RAM memory until then. Once done, it saves the pix, so thus the circle rotating icon. However, if I am in SPORTS mode and i try to take a SINGLE picture, quick push of the shutter, it appears to not like that, so instead it takes 2 pictures, and i have to wait until RAM saves to SD card before i can take another shot. Well, that's terrible. Sports mode should NOT equal 2+ picture ONLY. I see no way to take a single picture in SPORTS mode.
The only way to accomplish a "sports" picture, is to set the camera to AUTO, change the settings to everything i need, and then take pictures like that.
Does anyone know how to get SPORTS mode to take a single picture, without all of the waiting, and without it taking more than 1 picture?
(btw, my SD card is fast, class 10, this is NOT an issue).

THanks for any help!

The self timer cannot be locked for every shot. However, the AW110 has a dedicated button to activate the self timer.

The camera won't let me shoot more than 30 minutes of video. Is there a way to make it shoot more, like four hours of video? I don't need continuous video.

The video recording seems to pause while the lens is zoomed. Can this be disabled so the camera continues to record?

Answer:
With the COOLPIX AW100, when a video is being shot the zoom will smoothly zoom in and out without disrupting the video. When shooting video we recommend that the camera have an approved memory card that is a class 10 or higher.

Answer:
The star icon that is on the AW110 is next to the image size, this indicates the larger image quality and less image compression.

I carry my iPad around and connect to different WiFi networks. What SSID and Password do I set up on my camera?? Do I have to change my camera settings every time I connect to a new WiFi network, or do I somehow connect the camera to my iPad and just change the WiFi network on my iPad???
Any help appreciated.
