clear pictures i love this camera because it takes pictures sooooo clear!!! May 8, 2012
A super little camera! I recently returned the Nikon S300 because we felt it took horrible picutres and was far too slow to actually complete taking a photo. We also felt that the pitures were worse than on our iPhone! I returned the S300 and instead purchased this camera. My daughter and I went to Chicago today and she took at least 100 random photos and they turned out brilliant! The zoom is fantastic as it the auto shake (keeping the pictures from getting blurry). It is a great size, takes wonderful pictures, and is a perfect camera for a first (daughter is 12) and I'm considering getting myself one to use when I don't feel like getting my big D70 out. Definately worth the extra $100 than the S300. May 5, 2012
Best bang for the buck This camera is very cool i bought this camera because i needed a upgrade bad. I had an old 8MP Canon for a wile and Nikon has always been such an amazing brand and i always liked the stylish design the Coolpixes have. So i went ahead and bought this one and i was amazed of how light weight it was when i first held it so i charged it up and took some shots and some video uploaded it to my computer and the pictures are just phenominal and the film was clear as day i couldnt be any happier with Nikon April 6, 2012
Super Camara !!! Cumple con mis expectativas, super facil de usar para una chica divertida como yo ; ) June 13, 2012

Traditionally digital camera monitors "wash out" in bright sunlight so that they are hard to use. The new 4300/6300/9300 cameras do not have viewfinders as a backup. Will the new 4300/6300/9300's still have this problem or do they display effectively in sunlight?

Answer:
She will need to use a step-down converter to plug into the 220 voltage outlet. A converter will most likely need to be used for all electronics that she brings with her from the USA. They are easily found in electronics stores and online. Also, when you are purchasing the converter, make sure that it comes with the correct plug shape for Ethiopia. Not all countries around the world use the same plug that we do here in the states.

I recently bought a S6300. I was under the impression it recorded movies in MPEG-4 format. The movies are in .MOV file not .MP4. I want a camera that stores files in mp4. Can I change the file storage output of the s6300 or do I need to send it back? Please write back. It's a great camera other than this issue.

Answer:
Depth-of-field is controlled by several factors. The first is the lens aperture or ƒ/stop. The aperture is a variable sized hole which allows light into the camera. The larger the hole, the more light that enters. The smaller the hole, the less light that enters. The size of the hole also determines the amount of depth-of-field. The larger the hole, the less depth-of-field. The smaller the hole, the more depth-of-field. This model of Coolpix has pre-set settings. You can use one of the scene modes, try different settings to see which one will work for the type of photography you’re looking for.

I love my camera, great quality, sharp images... the problem is while I'm filming, the video will suddenly blur, and the only way I can focus it again is to zoom in and zoom out. Quite annoying. Especially when it makes you miss your little brother's especially excellent boy band move when he's singing One Direction....
Is there a setting I need to change... or is this just my camera...?

Granted it's been over the 3 hr, 50 min charge time, but my camera will not turn on even if I press the on button. It's like I never charged it. Do I go back to the store where I purchased this camera, or is there a trick to turning it back on? Thanks.

I have a CoolPix S4 and the delay from the time I press the shutter release until the camera snaps the photo seems to be over a second. In order to take a decent photo, I must hold the camera still for a few seconds after I press the shutter release or the photo will be blurred. Is the delay for this new Nikon the same as with the older S4?

Answer:
Most of the time shooting delay is caused by focusing. Press the button half way down (and hold it in) and let the camera pre-focus; when the subject is perfect press the button the rest of the way to shoot. With a bit of practice it is easy to get the perfect photo.

The various SD cards (SD, SDHC, SDXC) come in different sizes and speeds depending on the class of the cards. What is needed to ensure that the storage media is not a limiting factor when using this camera for the more data intensive operations? What is the maximum data transfer rate of the camera? How large are the files that are created when shooting HD video?
Long story short, for satisfactory performance do I need a 2 TB class 10, SDXC card or a 2 GB class 1 SD card? Or something in between?
