18 Scene Modes and Scene Auto Selector for effortless photos and videos

Experienced photographers optimize their camera settings to match the situation. The COOLPIX S6800 does that work for you. With 18 Scene Modes, including Beach, Snow, Night Portrait, Sunset and more, it's easy to match the moment to a Scene Mode. You can even get creative and use Scene Modes to alter ordinary shots. Or, select Scene Auto Selector and let the camera choose the best mode for your situation.

Superior low-light performance

High-performance CMOS image sensor lets you shoot without a flash

Imagine being able to shoot without a flash at weddings, concerts, parties—anywhere your flash normally fires. You won't have to interrupt a moment to capture it, and your photos will look more natural and true to your memory. The COOLPIX S6800 performs so well in low light situations that, in most cases, using the flash is optional. Of course, when the lighting is extremely poor and you need a flash, it'll be there.

Love it! The quality on the pictures is AMAZING. The zoom is awesome. This is a great purchase. Small compact camera that gives you great results. I have been satisfied with the battery life. I have not had any issues. June 25, 2014
Poor I received my coolpix s 6800 yesterday. It charged up in about an hour. The panoramic setting doesn't work and the battery only allowed me to take less than 20 pictures before it died. I went to charge it up 3 hours ago and it still hasn't taken any charge. I will be sending it back. May 25, 2014

I am looking to purchase the Coolpix S6800. I see icons shown below the camera on your website, but no key. Is the S6800 shockproof? Please include a key or simply words when someone hovers their mouse over the icons as this would solve some questions. Thanks!

Answer:
Enable the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi. Press the MENU button to display the menus, then highlight Wi-Fi Options in the setup menu and turn it ON. You will see that the camera is beginning to search for the smart device. On an iOS-powered device, you will need to go into settings and select Wi-Fi. Select the camera’s Wi-Fi Network or SSID, which will begin with the name Nikon followed by an alpha-numeric string. The camera and smart device will then connect. For iOS users, go to Settings on your phone, into the Wi-Fi settings, and select the Netowrk SSID. It begins with the name Nikon followed by a string of letters and numbers. Once you've selected the Network SSID, you can open the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app on the smart device, as the connection is now established. Launch the Wireless Mobile Utility on the smart device. Once the files are on your smartphone or tablet, that device’s Wi-Fi or cellular service is used to upload files to image sharing or SNS websites or to send them as attachments to emails. COOLPIX cameras must have a media card in the camera for Wi-Fi options to be accessible; and the camera’s battery must have at least 50% charge. Wi-Fi can be disabled by selecting Wi-Fi, Network Connection, Disable in the camera setup menu or by turning the camera off.

Answer:
To activate the camera's Wi-Fi, enable the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi by pressing the MENU button to display the menus, then highlight Wi-Fi in the setup menu and select it. Once selected, highlight the Network connection and select that, then highlight Enable and press OK. Wait a few seconds for the Wi-Fi to activate. Display the camera WI-FI NETWORK OR SSID. Connecting the camera's built-in Wi-Fi to your smart device is simple. It is automatic with an Android™-powered smart device. Once the Wireless Mobile Utility Application is turned on, the camera can remotely take pictures or the images that are on the camera can be easily downloaded onto the smart device that is being connected. For more details on connecting your camera to the Built-In Wi-Fi, please see the following article: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

Answer:
A COOLPIX camera is equipped with up to 18 scene modes that you can set manually to match your shooting conditions. Each mode optimizes the camera's settings to achieve the best exposure for specific conditions, enabling you to confidently capture great shots even in difficult circumstances. With the COOLPIX S6800, the shutter cannot be manually changed.
