Focus where you want it

Target Finding AF for accurate, intelligent autofocus

It's frustrating when a smartphone camera focuses on the wrong thing. With the COOLPIX S6800, Target Finding AF instantly and accurately determines your intended subject and focuses on it—not on just whatever is closest to the camera. Catch the shot you want on the first try. No more out of focus shots or the frustration of trying to get the camera to focus on the right thing.

Let the camera call the shots

18 Scene Modes and Scene Auto Selector for effortless photos and videos

Experienced photographers optimize their camera settings to match the situation. The COOLPIX S6800 does that work for you. With 18 Scene Modes, including Beach, Snow, Night Portrait, Sunset and more, it's easy to match the moment to a Scene Mode. You can even get creative and use Scene Modes to alter ordinary shots. Or, select Scene Auto Selector and let the camera choose the best mode for your situation.

Superior low-light performance

High-performance CMOS image sensor lets you shoot without a flash

Imagine being able to shoot without a flash at weddings, concerts, parties—anywhere your flash normally fires. You won't have to interrupt a moment to capture it, and your photos will look more natural and true to your memory. The COOLPIX S6800 performs so well in low light situations that, in most cases, using the flash is optional. Of course, when the lighting is extremely poor and you need a flash, it'll be there.

Turn the ordinary into extraordinary

Easily apply fun and creative Image Effects like Selective Color, Miniature, Skin Softening and more right from the camera—no need for additional photo or video-editing software.

There’s nothing worse than a shaky handheld video. As soon as you start recording with COOLPIX S6800, Hybrid VR (Vibration Reduction) activates and combats camera shake for sharper steadier home movies.

Great camera. I'm not in the professional photography business. Just someone that got tired of having to depend on my iPhone 6 to take pictures and eat up memory space. This little camera takes awesome pictures and videos. I love the fact that it's wireless too and that was a must for me and what ultimately made me buy this one. Connects to my iPhone (with Nikon app) just fine and does what I need it too do. March 6, 2015
A superb camera for its size and price! I have been using my Nikon S6800 now daily for over six months and I truly enjoy using this camera. I take anywhere from as few as 6 pics to 400 pics per day and this camera performs extremely well; whether in bright sunlight to near total darkness. (Not every pic comes out perfect....but since you are just "burning up" pixels vs film, it costs you nothing to take several pictures in order to attain the "perfect shot"). And the occasional videos I shoot are surprisingly good, even the sound is recorded quite well without using an external microphone. The accompanying software takes just a little time to master and transferring the pictures to your computer is as easy as plugging it in using the included USB cable. You also have the option to upload your pictures to an IOS or Android device (e.g., an iPhone, iPad, etc) wirelessly via WI-FI, which is a very cool feature. You can also use your phone as a remote control for your camera so you can place the camera on a tripod near what you are photographing and you can take pictures or videos from several yards away (such as closeups of a busy bird feeder). Just place the app on your phone and off you go! One handed photos are easily done and the VR (Vibration Resistance) really helps getting nice, clear pictures. Navigating the menus takes a bit of time and experimenting but once you spend the time to learn everything this camera will do for you, you will be rewarded with pictures that are a big cut above the everyday snapshots most people take, especially cell phone photographs. I have almost completely stopped using my phone to take pictures anymore since this camera takes up no more room in my pocket than my cell phone does and it absolutely outdoes the phone in performance and features, readily available by navigating the menus. I do not go anywhere without this camera...my iPhone is just used for phone calls now :-) (and yes, for occasional remote control of the camera). This is one of the best purchases I have made in quite some time, getting a great camera that takes GREAT pictures, is easy to use, is so portable and unobtrusive that if anything ever happens to this camera (loss, unrepairable damage, etc), I would not hesitate to immediately purchase another one. January 7, 2015
Amazed with precision and quality! I've owned the same Samsung camera for about five years now and it was also my first camera. When I received the S6800 for Christmas last year I was impressed with not only how well the pictures take but also with the built in editing software that comes along with the product since I don't have the software on my laptop to edit pictures that I take. After I finally figured out how to change the ISO and white balance, I was even more happier :) this is a product I'd recommend buying if you are looking for a digital camera because it has it all and more than I expected January 2, 2015
Superb clear pics. I tried other point and shoot camera's from other manufacturers. In the same category this surpasses my expectations. Easy to use, clear pictures, wifi, and my iPhone loves it! November 27, 2014
Awesome little camera I purchased this camera the other day and have fallen n love with it! The wifi feature is neat for my iPhone and iPad too, takes clear pictures and is dependable, worth every cent. August 10, 2014

Answer:
Yes. I have this feature enabled.
A couple of points:

1) The location of the datestamp on the image can't be changed -- can't move it to the upper left, etc.

2) The only options are to have the date imprinted, or the date + time.

3) The date format is fixed: no changing to different date formats (yy/mm/dd, dd-mmm-yyyy, etc.). You're stuck with the single format.

[later]
I tried several times to upload an example image with a datestamp, but nikonusa.com's javascript image uploader is broken badly -- another technology failure!

Answer:
To activate the camera's Wi-Fi, enable the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi by pressing the MENU button to display the menus, then highlight Wi-Fi in the setup menu and select it. Once selected, highlight the Network connection and select that, then highlight Enable and press OK. Wait a few seconds for the Wi-Fi to activate. Display the camera WI-FI NETWORK OR SSID. Connecting the camera's built-in Wi-Fi to your smart device is simple. It is automatic with an Android™-powered smart device. For iOS users, go to Settings on your phone, into the Wi-Fi settings, and select the Netowrk SSID. It begins with the name Nikon followed by a string of letters and numbers. Once you've selected the Network SSID, you can open the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app on the smart device, as the connection is now established. Once the Wireless Mobile Utility Application is turned on, the camera can remotely take pictures or the images that are on the camera can be easily downloaded onto the smart device that is being connected. For more details on connecting your camera to the Built-In Wi-Fi, please see the following article: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Learn-An...

Taking too long between pictures is most likely an issue with your memory card being too slow. Try using a faster SD card.

A COOLPIX camera is equipped with up to 18 scene modes that you can set manually to match your shooting conditions. Each mode optimizes the camera's settings to achieve the best exposure for specific conditions, enabling you to confidently capture great shots even in difficult circumstances. Answer:
I don't see why you would have to buy a card reader as recommended by another commenter. Any decent device should mount and be recognized by your computer. For example, usually on Macs you can use Image Capture and you would not even need the proprietary software.

Answer:
I had the same issue but found that the iPad would find the correct app if you set it for iPhone only in the app store and than searched for the "wireless Mobile Utility" . I down loaded this iPhone app and tested it and it worked fine on the iPad. You have to go through the Wi-Fi connect option on the camera while going to the Wi-Fi section of the setup app on the iPad to join the wi-Fi from the camera (should see the iPad connect whilke the camera says its attempting to sync). Once the iPad finds the camera as a Wi-Fi and you get a blue check mark, leave setup and open up the Wireless Mobile select picture on the camera option or if you alrady did this below the above steps it will show the S6800 listed. now all the pictures will be there once they have downloaded to the iPad (this may take some tie depending on how often you go through these steps
