What a AWESOME Camera! This is my second Camera. My first Nikon. It is beyond awesome. It does everything but the dishes. Now in saying that... If you want a camera that you can just point and shoot this probably isn't the camera for you. There are a lot of features and settings to learn. I got mine in March and I still have ways to go. The video on the camera is like watching a tv movie. I just love this camera! May 29, 2015
Very Happy!!! I had a Nikon Coolpix L110, I loved it! But it had slammed against the back seat and the LCD screen broke. My husband got me the Coolpix P530 for Christmas and I am in love with it! Takes awesome pictures and the battery lasts me a few days. I am just now exploring different settings on it, but I am happy with the auto settings it has! May 2, 2015
It's just Fantastic Love It! Would recommend to anyone. And pretty sure this goes for entire Coolpix line. I run around in the woods in North West and its light and efficient. I have used it almost everyday for 8 months or so and although I have found a few areas which I need some more professional qualities' in a Camera. This will take anyone's photography to another level. If you spend time with it. Good Job Nikon you have a life long fan. I am not saying its perfect but it's very very very good. April 22, 2015
Great Camera for a beginner I bought this camera during the holidays. After I saw how great the pictures were I found a new hobby. For someone like myself that knows nothing about photography this camera is for you. The automatic settings will dazzle your audience. And the zoom is amazing. I had folks asking me if I used a telescope when taking pictures of the moon. Honestly all I did was zoom out and use the moon setting :) March 1, 2015
Excellent Technical characteristics and Quality of Nikon Coolpix p530 I have bought Nikon coolpix p530 and I am very happy with this camera. It has a lot of variable parameters, which can suite needs may be even professional photographer. In the same time I use auto mode and the camera takes excellent quality pictures even in very hard lighting conditions (dark or too bright conditions, see specification it has very wide range of exposure parameters such shutter speed, ISO and others). So far I almost do not use Flash, because the camera taking excellent pictures in most lighting conditions. The camera has option to save often used settings in User's profile U on the Mode Dial. Optical zoom x42 working excellent no matter if I am taking still images or in movie mode. Vibration compensation system VR, designed by Nikon working excellent. I checked it taking movie clip while being walking and results are excellent. I have turned OFF digital zoom in settings, because x42 optical zoom satisfies me fully. I have opened some pictures in Photo Now, zoomed them in and quality is excellent even with high magnification. I have taken a movie clip and played it on my Sharp wide screen 46 inch HD TV and quality is comparable with the movie taken using professional big camera for taking movies, which cost obviously more, then ten thousand dollars. I assume I have made excellent choice and I am very happy with my new camera Nikon Coolpix p530. Special Thanks to Nikon's designers. December 17, 2014

4. Can this camera shoot in raw?

5. Can I use Macro while zooming when it’s not possible to bring camera very close to the object?

Answer:
The COOLPIX P530 can save still images while recording video. If the shutter-release button is pressed all the way while recording a movie, one frame is saved as a still image. This will be saved in a JPEG format. The COOLPIX P530 can shoot panoramic images. This image can be captured when shooting in the scene mode called easy panorama. To learn how to use easy panorama, please see page 2 in the reference section of the User's Manual. This camera shoots in JPEG Fine and Norm (Normal). Norm (Normal) is the default setting. Zooming is possible when shooting with Macro. The zoom ratio is set to a position where macro symbol (flower) and the zoom indicator glow green. The COOLPIX P530 is supplied with an EH-70P charging adaptor. However to charge the camera externally, the COOLPIX P530 is compatible with the MH-61 Battery Charger. This camera is not compatible with lens hoods. The P530 User's Manual cannot be purchased as a hard copy however the COOLPIX P530 is available online here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

Answer:
The COOLPIX P530 does not have the capability to attach filters because the built in lens does not have threads. The COOLPIX P530 has a built in lens therefore it cannot use the detachable NIKKOR lenses.

Answer:
All Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.

Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.

Some newer Coolpix have included an AC Adapter, like the EH-68P AC adapter, for plugging directly into a wall outlet without the use of a power cord. As with previous chargers, the correct adapter must be acquired for the country traveled to, and fitted to the Nikon AC adapter to allow proper AC connection to the wall outlet.

How can I take bright photos of the night sky showing clearly all the stars? I tried to take photo using the manual mode and adjusting the shutter speed on 15", but the result was very dark (see the attached photo how black - should be much more bright). Of course there was no moon in the sky or other light source which could effect the capturing process. Is there any setting which I could make in order to take more bright photos of the night sky and the stars with my Coolpix p530?

Answer:
Controlling aperture and shutter speed are the keys. Aperture is the size of the lens opening; you want large apertures to let in as much light as possible. Shutter speed will control how long the shutter stays open; the longer it's open, the more light will reach the sensor. Also, setting higher ISO speeds will increase the "light gathering" ability of the camera's sensor. A tripod is necessary. Long exposure times—one, ten, even 30 seconds—combined with small apertures (for great depth-of-field) will produce dramatic light-trails and reveal details.

I wish to buy a guidebook, and have been told really good things about those written by Alexander White. Unfortunately, he has only written books for the P520 and the P600, and has no immediate plans to write one for the P530. Although I would rather have a book specific to the model camera I have, I would be willing to spring for one that is close. All of that said, which is closer to the P530 - the P520 or the P600?

When shooting video, if the focus mode is MF (Manual Focus) the camera will be able to manually focus. The focus can be adjusted while recording movies by rotating the multiselector counterclockwise to focus on far subjects or clockwise to focus on near subjects.

Currently, I take pictures of my handmade jewelry with a non-Nikon camera. I then go to my laptop to download the pictures and see how they turned out. Because I'm not a professional photographer, many times I find I need to retake some of the pictures. I'm shopping for a camera I can connect to my laptop and see on my laptop monitor what I see through the camera so I can see how the picture will look like. Because I'm limited in photography knowledge I asked around and I was told this is called 'tethering' and that I need a software disc that comes with the camera. Does this camera comes with that disc so I can do 'tethering?'

Answer:
When a memory card is in the camera, the images will save to the memory card being used. The only time the memory card will not hold images is if the memory card has hit capacity and the memory card is write protected. Please contact Nikon Technical Support for help with this question.
