Compacta y gran zoom. October 18, 2014

Answer:
The COOLPIX P530 does not have the capability to attach filters because the built in lens does not have threads. The COOLPIX P530 has a built in lens therefore it cannot use the detachable NIKKOR lenses.

This camera is new to me and I am planning to use it on Africa. There is a "do not" on page 34 about not using travel converters or adapters designed to convert one voltage to another or with DC-to-AC inverters. How can I recharge my lithium battery?

Answer:
All Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.

Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.

Some newer Coolpix have included an AC Adapter, like the EH-68P AC adapter, for plugging directly into a wall outlet without the use of a power cord. As with previous chargers, the correct adapter must be acquired for the country traveled to, and fitted to the Nikon AC adapter to allow proper AC connection to the wall outlet.

Answer:
The maximum movie recording time (maximum movie length for a single movie) is 4GB or 29 minutes, even when there is sufficient free space on the memory card. The maximum movie length for a single movie is displayed on the monitor during movie recording.

How can I take bright photos of the night sky showing clearly all the stars? I tried to take photo using the manual mode and adjusting the shutter speed on 15", but the result was very dark (see the attached photo how black - should be much more bright). Of course there was no moon in the sky or other light source which could effect the capturing process. Is there any setting which I could make in order to take more bright photos of the night sky and the stars with my Coolpix p530?

Answer:
Controlling aperture and shutter speed are the keys. Aperture is the size of the lens opening; you want large apertures to let in as much light as possible. Shutter speed will control how long the shutter stays open; the longer it's open, the more light will reach the sensor. Also, setting higher ISO speeds will increase the "light gathering" ability of the camera's sensor. A tripod is necessary. Long exposure times—one, ten, even 30 seconds—combined with small apertures (for great depth-of-field) will produce dramatic light-trails and reveal details.

1. Can still pictures be taken while recording video?

2. Does this camera shoot panoramic pictures? If yes, is it a Panoramic assist, or I can pan the camera?

3. How long is the wait between shutter push and image take?

4. Can this camera shoot in raw?

5. Can I use Macro while zooming when it’s not possible to bring camera very close to the object?

6. Is there an external battery charger for the coolpix p520

7. Can you buy an attachable lens hood? If yes, what kind should I get?

8. Can I get (buy?) printed manual?

Answer:
The COOLPIX P530 can save still images while recording video. If the shutter-release button is pressed all the way while recording a movie, one frame is saved as a still image. This will be saved in a JPEG format. The COOLPIX P530 can shoot panoramic images. This image can be captured when shooting in the scene mode called easy panorama. To learn how to use easy panorama, please see page 2 in the reference section of the User's Manual. This camera shoots in JPEG Fine and Norm (Normal). Norm (Normal) is the default setting. Zooming is possible when shooting with Macro. The zoom ratio is set to a position where macro symbol (flower) and the zoom indicator glow green. The COOLPIX P530 is supplied with an EH-70P charging adaptor. However to charge the camera externally, the COOLPIX P530 is compatible with the MH-61 Battery Charger. This camera is not compatible with lens hoods. The P530 User's Manual cannot be purchased as a hard copy however the COOLPIX P530 is available online here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...
