Capture the sights and sounds

720p HD videos with sound bring your memories to life

When a photo alone won't do, press the dedicated movie button and instantly start recording 720p HD video in widescreen format while the built-in microphone captures the sounds of the moment in high fidelity. When you're ready to share your creations, use an optional audio video cable (EG-CP14) to connect to your compatible TV. Your friends and family will see your movies come to life on the big screen.

Master the camera in no time

Simple, convenient operation for stress-free shooting

The COOLPIX L28 is so easy to use, anyone can take great photos and videos with it. Just turn the camera on, point, shoot and marvel at the results. For maximum point-and-shoot convenience, select Easy Auto Mode. It automatically optimizes the camera settings for each shot, no matter how challenging the situation. You'll be free to enjoy the moment while you capture it.

Let the camera call the shots

20 Scene Modes and Scene Auto Selector for effortless photos and videos

Experienced photographers optimize their camera settings to match the situation. The COOLPIX L28 does that work for you. With 20 Scene Modes, including Beach, Snow, Night Portrait, Sunset and more, it's easy to match the moment to a Scene Mode. You can even get creative and use Scene Modes to alter ordinary shots. Or, select Scene Auto Selector and let the camera choose the best mode for your situation.

Point, shoot and amaze

The COOLPIX L28 high-performance NIKKOR glass lens is paired with a 20-megapixel CCD image sensor that captures bright, vibrant images.

Sharper photos of moving subjects

When your subject is moving fast, Motion Detection automatically kicks in and selects a faster shutter speed and higher ISO (light sensitivity) to help you get sharper, clearer photos.

Always ready for action

The COOLPIX L28 is powered by two regular AA batteries, which are convenient to use and widely available. It accepts alkaline, lithium and Nikon rechargeable batteries, available as an optional accessory.

Don't sweat a little camera shake

Electronic Vibration Reduction helps keep the shot steady, even if your hands are not. Say goodbye to blurry photos, shaky videos and tripods.

Love it I had recently gotten a Pentax X5 and after two days the screen started going black after taking pictures. I returned it back to Target and got this little camera instead. Have to say i LOVE it. Easy to use and love all the different scenes. I take a lot of pictures of my active 3 year old and our two playful dogs so the extra features come in handy, a lot! Glad i switched to a more family type of camera that is small and durable January 7, 2014

Answer:
The L28 was not designed for underwater photography and therefore it does not have an underwater mode like the AW100, AW110, S30 and S31 underwater COOLPIX cameras. The underwater mode is designed to filter out blue so your images are more representative of the actual color of the objects you’re photographing.

I have only had it for a two months or less, and befor this started, it would take beautiful pics! But now it will either turn on and let me take only ONE picture (or not even let me!), or partially turn on by letting the picture capture thingy go out only half way and the screen stays black then immediately shuts of!!!

Answer:
The COOLPIX L28 digital zoom cannot be disabled. However, a zoom indicator is displayed at the top of the monitor when the zoom control is rotated. Both optical and digital zoom are displayed on the indicator and you can avoid using the digital zoom. The zoom indicator will also turn yellow when digital zoom is engaged. Refer to page 23 of the L28 manual for more information.

Answer:
There are preset scene modes that you can choose from in the COOLPIX L28 for your lighting conditions (Night Portrait, Dusk/Dawn, Party/Indoors, ect.,) and with Auto mode you can choose your ISO which increases the sensitivity to light.

Answer:
The L28 zoom cannot be used while a video is being recorded. Moving the zoom switch while a video is being recorded will activate the digital zoom and Image quality degrades when digital zoom is used.

I understand (from a previous post) that when the zoom lever is used during video recording only digital zoom is used, but does this still provide the ability to zoom in and out while recording? If not, then can someone please recommend a camera that will allow zooming in and out while recording video? Thanks for your help!
