Very good camera I was looking for a simple point and shoot camera in a small size that takes great quality photos. This camera is excellent in all categories. It is so compact that we take it everywhere, and thus are able to capture photos that might otherwise be missed. Uploading photos to a computer was simple and successful the first try. I had to order a special micro pin type D HDMI cable for the camera end, and a standard HDMI plug on the other end so I could show photos on my 60" HDTV. This cost less than $5 on E-Bay, but perhaps should have been included in the box. It is a pleasure to simply take a good photo without a lot of fooling around with settings etc.. October 5, 2014
Best Little Camera I have Owned This Product delivers remarkable photos and the easy to read icons and even if I did not buy another camera this one has and is serving the purpose of the purchase I will and continue to Trust Nikon Products I got it at Radio Shack in St Louis and the Store Employee was informative about the product because she also owned one and made the purchase an easy choice. Blurry Photos I am a photographer and love taking pictures. I was looking for a nice and small point and shoot to carry around to to take photos of my kids, rather than carring around my DSLR camera everywhere. Especially for her birthday party, I wanted something small just to get a bunch of bday photos of everyone. The photo quality is horrible. At first I wasn't sure if the display was just making them appear worse than the are, so I uploaded them to my computer and they were just very bad quality. I'm returning. September 2, 2014

Answer:
I believe the answer is that face detection CANNOT be turned off. So if there's someone's face that you don't want to focus on, but that face is closest to the camera, it'll focus on that person's face anyway. There is no control over this! If you're in a crowd and want to focus on one specific person (like someone you know and not a complete stranger) and the complete stranger happens to be closer, you're out of luck. The camera will focus on the complete stranger.

Answer:
If faces are detected, the camera will focus on the face closest to the camera. If digital zoom is in effect or there are no faces detected the camera will take a focused picture of the center subject. Face detection will happen automatically when there is a face close to the camera.

Answer:
The Exposure and Focus can be locked on the COOLPIX S02 by pressing and holding the shutter button halfway down. Exposure and focus lock means that the focus and exposure settings will not change when you move the S02 around while the shutter button is pressed halfway down.

Answer:
The COOLPIX S02 will auto-select the best preset scene mode when shooting. When shooting in Macro the zooming bar at the top of the screen will show how much to zoom for the macro shot to come into focus.
